This is the one and only great invention of the 21st century
>>
>>106580064

3D printing
Wireless charging
Reusable rockets
usable EV and their charging networks
gene editing
consumer GPS
autonomous vehicles
LLMs

And that is the first quarter of the century. This century probably is going to have some crazy good inventions. Fusion energy maybe?
>>
>>106580064
>gave retards, normalfags, and indians easy access to the internet
More like one of the worst inventions
>>
>>106580064
Honestly I can't think of anything that has been of any real value to me.
>>
>>106580240
So normalfags weren’t using computers at all ever to access the internet?
>>
>>106580064
This isn't AI, retard.
>>
>>106580143
>3D printing
niche
>Wireless charging
inferior
>Reusable rockets
scam
>usable EV and their charging networks
worse in every way
>gene editing
OP
>consumer GPS
more harm than good
>autonomous vehicles
scam
>LLMs
scam

The only one you mentioned that is good is gene editing and that is not the kind of technology /g/ covers and clearly unlike the others in the list.
>>
>>106580359
Yes except for LLMs, not a scam at all, you can run large models locally on a CPU as long as enough ram is provided (32gb is the comfy spot nowadays, 128 the optimum)

3d printers are pretty cheap ($300 for the decent ones (resin based)) but the resin itself is still expensive. That's the only reason the average consoomer won't play around with it.

Gene editing is not automated enough. I played around with wetware and everything required manual work... Lots of it. I managed to turn bee stripes to red/black with around 50 preps and only 2 successes.
It's cool on paper, but it's terrible because it's not streamlined in any way, and I can't afford a dna assembler.

destroys society, makes all zoomers shut in weirdos who become incels or trannies.

Name one legitimate reason somebody needs four camera lenses on a phone
>>
>>106581890
taking pictures with various zoom levels

>>
>>106582268
I suppose there's no legitimate usage if you're stuck in your basement all day, but for normal people having the ability to zoom in or out is quite useful
>>
>>106582292
I didn't mean to upset you. I'm not sure if you know how cameras work, but you don't need multiple lenses to have zoom functionality.
>>
>>106582400
you do however need multiple lenses to have optical zoom functionality in phones, unless you're fine with your camera lens sticking approx 3" out of your phone or you think digital zoom is somehow acceptable
>>
>>106582418
Digital Zoom is perfectly acceptable. You're not using your phone for microbiology studies. I still dont see the need for FOUR cameras.

It's so unbelievably shit, it just preys on some preexisting trends, marketing and mental illnesses.
>>106580143
Induction isn't new, there's just chargeable batteries in everything now.
EVs aren't usable, they're just getting massive subsidies. They don't fix the worst problems of cars and really only promote the worst possible usecase for cars, which is mass commuting into the city. EV scooters and motorcycles are even worse and should just be memoryholed as the net negative that they are.
Autonomous vehicles are a meme.

multiple prime lenses are multiple prime lenses.
it's not zooming. you would need a zoom lens for that. picrel shows an actual zoom lens.

Phones are designed to be addicting, cars aren't. Steve Jobs famously restricted his children's access to iPads and iPhones because he knew how addicting they were. If you are addicted to cars, there is something wrong with you.
>>
>>106582596
an actual zoom lens lets you choose any focal length within its range. that's zooming.
fixed prime lenses are fixed on specific focal lengths. you cannot optically zoom to 1.5x even tho your phone's "zoom" goes to 3x.
>>
>>106580143
None of these things are 21st century inventions.
>3D Printers
Invented by Japs back in 1980s
>Induction (wireless) charging
Literally an ancient 19th century technology
>Reusable rockets
Space shuttle was a thing since 1970s
>Usable EV
In the early 20th century, almost half of all cars were electric.
>Gene editing
Only 21st century technology you listed here if you talk about CRISPR. Prior to that, they were crudely modifying genes with radiation on plants
>Consumer GPS
Was available in the 90s
>Autonomous vehicles
Existed as experiment back in the 80s and 90s.
>LLM
Artifical neural networks as a concept is as old as the electronic computers themselves.
Sorry broski, you just been fooled by techbros into thinking that technology advances on a day to day basis.
>>
probably but it ruined society
>>
ASDL is arguably a great invention, freed us from the tyranny of dial up and paved the way for faster speeds with ADSL2, VDSL, G.fast until FTTP was deployed.
>>
>>106581890
mine has a standard high-megapixel lens, a 0.6x fisheye lens, a 3.4x zoom lens, and a night vision lens with an infrared light next to it

i've seen other phones that have flir thermals on it
