What graphic tablets does /g/ use? I'm fed up with using a mouse and wish to upgrade to something more effective for occasional drawing. Too much of a cheapskate for a drawing tablet though.

The medium version of the one you just posted

check out Drawing Tablet General on /ic/

what gives

Generals are made by faggots who don't understand the point of autosage

wew lad
>>
>>106582858
it's shit, no tilt detection, shitty pressure detection, subpar drivers
the huion tablet of equivalent price would have tilt detection and +8k pressure levels, which mitigate the non linear pressure detection.

/ic/ told me to avoid chinkshit at all costs
>>
>>106584155
the guy who makes those threads is a dedicated wacom shill. the huion brand i can vouch for; had one for years. i dont know about the other brands. make sure to firewall the drivers unless you want the chinese gov't handling your nudes
>>
huion something 950 something is what I use
it's good

why is that thread so incoherent?

I've heard reliability concerns about these Chinese brands based on what I searched. There's also this Bosto tablet that looks too good to be true for the price point that we have on sale here, don't know if that one would be any good.

As far as what I'm told, I'd be better off with a larger pad size for digital art regardless of how good I feel about my hand-eye coordination and precision from real work and FPS games.
>>
>>106583435
All the chinese tablets have dogshit high latency and hardware smoothing, they're such a pain in the ass to research what's safe to buy.
These entry-level wacoms have been the same hardware for 15+ years, they're safe and reliable, although the technical stagnation is maddening too.
>>
/g/ doesnt use graphics tablets or do anything artistic. thats why this board reccommends shit like gimp.
>>
>>106584279
>dogshit high latency
That's something that concerns me regarding graphic tablets especially, since while I do have a low-latency high refresh rate monitor my 1440p professional display that I use for work has some pretty terrible latency, at least 25ms I think.

nice try zhang
>>
>>106584327
brother are you retarded? giving advice on something isnt shilling, you're just an immature loser. literally "hey look mom i posted it again!" read the post again, virgin

>>106584273
the larger the better. i can tell you that from my experience too. if the active drawing area is bigger than your monitor it will be awkward though
>>
Any opinions on OpenTabletDriver?
>>
>>106584381
it works...if you're tablet is on the supported list. i used it with my huion on mint and it worked, but there of course was some tinkering i had to do to make it work 100%. probably 20 min of googling and i had it running

closely monitoring this thread for dissent. i hope they give you an extra rice bowl for your dedicated effort.

i just use Opentabletdriver and be done with it, even for wacom

2nd hand huion. you can find high end ones on eBay often for $150 or less.

>tilt detection
I have worked doing graphics for 20 years and I have never needed "tilt detection".
If you can't manage with an entry level Intuos I recommend thinking about an alternative hobby.
>>
>>106585526
I get the sentiment but mine works just fine and has a 4k display. cost me $100 with no cables, which I had a USBC and HDMI laying around.
>>
>>106585782
it's a handy feature for textured brushes.
when clip studio paint added the velocity curve control i didn't need tilt anymore.

I use wacom one CTL-672, just works. Mostly for taking notes and editing shit in gimp.

I bought some cheap huion something or another on ebay. I think it was $30? No more than $50 for sure.
If a mouse was good enough for you at some point, and you just want it for "occasional drawing" then it should serve you just fine.
Pic somewhat unrelated. I used photopea so the lines aren't smooth. Comes out a lot better on Krita but I don't have it installed right now.

Professional artist here. Get picrel in medium size.

Best value by far if you want something new.

Yeah, these are the only good budget choice.

Just don't drop the pen too much, the ferrite shatters easily.
>>
>>106587053
kamvas 16 pro plus with the 3.0 pen is what I ended up with. I just looked for the best value. originally I was only looking for a 13 at 1080.
>>
>>106582733
I bought one of these when I was on my drawing phase in uni, it didn't lay flat on surfaces, it wobbled. Thought wacom was supposed to be the top dog? Anyways ended up selling it to some fat chick student, im sure she put it to better use than I ever did
>>
>>106587484
Is the price bump to $70ish compared to the $45 truly worth it when >>106584273 exists and is also bigger? Or is the reliability/support/software worth just that much?

90% sure she is drawing porn to make money now

Get a cheap tablet with a screen, seeing the line coming from where you're using the pen is just much better.

This is the one that I got and use, cheap and the medium ver has great work area.
>>
>>106582733
Bamboo wacom i got 10 years ago for art class. No screen but you only really need a screen for animating
