The software has been getting worse, devs only care about making a quick buck so they use whichever techniques are the fastest to implement regardless of how well it will run. Gaming stopped being about passionate developers and became about greedy investors, and as a result we have been getting poorly optimized slop with boring gameplay and shit stories.On the upside we still have a couple of indie devs releasing interesting games every now and then. And those games run on pretty much anything so there is no point wasting money updating your pc.

Nvidia is giving it away as a promotional game so you can guess why Borderlands has such shit performance - they're probably pathtracing things for really really good cel shading.
Ultra settings use lots of performance for mildly positive or sometimes even negative visual impact. Developers are generally going to tune their settings so hitting ultra 4K at good frameworks is often not possible on current hardware. Crysis and Witcher 3 are good examples of taking doing this to an extreme.No matter how good hardware is or isn’t, or how slowly or it improves or doesn’t, this practice can continue and nobody cares except virgins obsessed with estatting about 4K ultra 240hz while calling Jensen Satan for making GPUs expensive.Also yes GPUs are simultaneously somewhere where Nvidia is taking a bigger margin and it’s just costing exponentially more to improve chips so price/performance improvements have almost flatlined.I think your guys problem is really just buying shit you don’t need and will never fucking make you happy but you guys buy it anyways while complaining about the price.
