I dont know why but poorfags' battlestations > rich collectorfags' battlestations. Kinda hard to explain why in words. Maybe I'm just biased.

its because you are sitting behind a normalfag battlestation praying for a single ounce of personality. but if you actually had to live like that, you would crumble into dust

The same reason humans are comfier sitting on a rock in front of a campfire than sitting in a chair in your living room with central heating (if you've never been camping, try it).

The marginal comfort provided by a PS2 + CRT is higher when sitting in a crappy attic than any gaming PC setup could possibly provide sitting in a well lit room with carpet and comfortable chairs.

>In order to increase his pleasures, man has intentionally added to the number and pressure of his needs, which in their original state were not much more difficult to satisfy than those of the brute. Hence luxury in all its forms; delicate food, the use of tobacco and opium, spirituous liquors, fine clothes, and the thousand and one things that he considers necessary to his existence.

Didn’t read all that but you’ve never been camping. You walk to a government designated camp sight and use mass produced matches to start a camp fire the one week of the year it isn’t fire season. The wind blows the smoke into your eyes and nostrils causing your eyes to water and nose to run so you move around the fire and the wind always chases you. The firewood burns out in 28 minutes so you go to your tent and smell smoke all night long and can’t wait for a shower. Camping is the best way to appreciate modern technology

Since this seems to be a kind of "spinoff" battlestation thread: I recently found a pic of my setup from mid-late 2019, soon after I finished my original PC (my first proper one that wasn't a laptop or repurposed shitty prebuilt mini tower designed for offices). Before El Furro was El Furro.

And no, I don't remember why I had the CRTs circled in this pic.

current station

The speakers are the nicest part of my setup; Polk Audio 7Bs running off an amp I took from my dad that likes to not play out one channel.

The keyboard is an old mechanical (Monterey K104) rescued from a storage room during my undergrad. Also got an IBM M out of the deal, but it was missing keycaps so I ditched it in a move.

My computer is an i5 4670k and r9 290 I put together in 2014, the PSU replaced, and 32 GB of RAM from another departmental storage room rescue a few years ago. X-Star monitor with a dead pixel and only DVI-D out that flickers if the brightness is too low.

I promise my desk isn't always this much of a mess. Old wooden folding table sawn to 4x3 feet that sags a little.

>>106598813
I'm jealous of your monitor setup. In an old office I had two 1920x1200 monitors in that configuration. Get well soon, g.

>>
>>106602214
thanks for the tip, but then what should i use? supposedly a wet sponge causes the iron to go bad because of the heat fluctuations.

>>106600896
i believe this guy's station inspired this thread.
>>
>>106602274
>everything is fake and staged, bro
>>
>>106602501
I'd get a real brass sponge; it's the best option but they're more expensive. Test it with a magnet, if it's magnetic then it's just painted or copper coated steel wool and you just got CHINKED. I'd also get a salammoniac block which you can use for tinning the tip in severe cases. Wetted paper towels work just as well as that sponge btw
>>
>>106602501
also you're supposed to leave solder on the tip all the time. The tips are also only coated with a very thin layer of iron, chrome, etc. to prevent the copper from oxidizing and you can easily ruin it, hence steel wool being bad for it.
>>
>>106594506
