The unemployed man's distribution.
>>106624789based* man's distribution.
faggots' distribution
>>106624789
too real OP
>>106624789Why does Anduril use it then?
>>106624789NixOS is easier to setup and manage though. If you value your time it makes perfect sense. I can't even imagine rolling a distro where a bad upgrade will leave you having to debug for an entire day to fix lmao
>>106625482Just replace the instance bro
>>106624789That's all of them except Ubuntu and RHEL
>>106625489Ah yes, an employed person now has to run proxmox or some other VM solution to manage their single host. Lets talk about things employed people would never bother with.
>>106625482>a bad upgrade will leave you having to debug for an entire day to fixthis has literally never happened to me in my 10 years of using linux as a desktop OS
I am gainfully employed.
>>106626017Press sudo nixos-rebuild switch to doubt.
>>106626842>not "nixos-rebuild switch --flake ." that includes all your modules and sysconfigs needed to completely redeploy the system anywhere elsengmi
>>106625482this. 2 times now flake update fucked me over, I reroll back and try again the next day and everything works.Zero problems.

>>106627852the drama around them was kinda funny
i'm unemployed and i use it
>>106627858I just got out of my rock. What happened?
>>106628786Don't listen to him, it was not funny at all, it was actually pretty sadNixOS got taken over and the founder and core developers driven out and now the project has explicit "moral values" (aka refusing Anduril sponsorship). It's now run by political activists and will probably collapse since all the tech people were driven out
>>106628808I recall last year, maybe two years ago I tried nixos for the first time. There was drama about the main contributor being based and about him getting overthrowed by the CoC police.Fast forward to last week, I am back to trying nixos again. What did I miss?
>>106628886That's the same drama. He was not just "the main contributor" but it was his PhD thesis, he literally created the entire thing. And the problem with him was not CoC but working for defense. CoC was used to force him out after declaring weapons to be against the moral values of the project
>>106624789I love the idea of it but in practice I find I can get 95% of the benefit by using a normal distro like Fedora, putting home on a separate partition, and taking care to avoid global mutation where I can. eg I use Docker instead of installing compilers/libraries wth dnf, I prefer flatpaks over RPMs, etc.
>>106628947why not use fedora silverblue then?
>>106628909I don't get why the "community" wants him out instead of making their fork with CoC and trannies.
>>106628808What is the creator doing now? Someone so talented could easily start a better competing project. Then again we all saw what happened with funtoo.
>>106628980Despite trying to avoid using it, I do like having the escape hatch of just running "dnf install" if I need to. (Although I hear you can use "layering" on silverblue)
>>106629122I don't really use silverblue but they have 3 ways for installing software.flatpak for guisomething called toolbx for cli tools I thinkand osmtree for layeringthere's a fork called secureblue which uses homebrew
>>106628993He's running his own company using Nix for entreprise and has a contract with Anduril. He's just not involved in the actual distro anymore.
>>106629339>He's just not involved in the actual distro anymore.Sad
>>106624789gay tranny distro these days, repulsive existence.
>>106624789>unemployedisnt everyone in tech unemployed?why isnt everyone using this distro then?
