People usually reccomend "normal" GNU/Linux distributions like Linux Mint or Debian, but that does not mean they are entierly free software, thankfully, the FSF has a list of 100% free software distributions which you can see on their website. My personal favourite is Hyperbola because it's stable and has no basedstemD but Parabola is also good. (Please don't make fun of my terrible english speaking capabilities)
