turns out this single commit was the cause of the lower desktop views on jewtube videos
>>
based, do it again
>>
i can just make youtubers have less views by filtering it out?

Adblocked users should count as negative views. If a channel's videos have more than 50% adblocked viewers, their channels should be permabanned.
>>
>>106627341
i first heard of this issue from brodie robertson. he might be the first to have discovered it only because his views were cut in half kek. im guessing mental outlaws stats arent looking too good
>>
>>106627304
based but at the same time hate how liberal these filters have been getting lately
one of the recent updates fucked up my novelupdates list and prevented me from updating entries because some easylist nigger thoughts that any site using ?sid should be filtered by default
>>
>>106627304
what does this say about the amount of people using, and not using adblocking utilities to watch youtube?
lmao

>any site using ?sid should be filtered by default
he's not wrong

why do the youtubers care? They always said people using adblockers were pirates and thieves that stole content and provided them zero value. If that's the case, why are they so upset at losing a "pirated" adblocked view? Are they now saying that a pirated view was actually worth something to them all along? That they were actually receiving something of value from an adblock view this whole time? That'll be a big change since that's not how they felt before. Fuck them all.
>>
>>106627463
Adblock users are "stealing" from them (their words not mine) but they're also a way to boost their presence within the Youtube algorithm. Viewers and avg watch time is how videos get recommended to people.

going off of the stats given by the youtubers covering this, nearly 1/2 of all desktop viewers are using adblock
>>
>>106627463
>Ad blocking is the same thing as piracy
I'm already blocking ads you don't need to convince me
>>
>>106627304
based. keep it in the list.
>>
>>106627482
gahahahaha. get fucked google.
>>
>>106627482
That's not surprising given how aggressive they are about adblocking and third party clients as of late.
>>
>>106627463
piracy is good
>>
>>106627304
wtf does atr mean you fucking faggots
>>
>>106627482
good. accelerate.
I'm sick of this jewish bullshit. this is the real reason Android is locking down more and more, that and meme lawsuits punish google for half-openness vs Apple, for some retarded reason.
>>
>>106627341
but jewtube literally put ads on non-monetized videos too thoughbeit.
>>
>>106627708
ads don't matter, it's all about surveillance. do you really think your data is worth fifty bucks a year, or whatever other nonsense number total ad revenue / total users comes out to
>>
>>106627762
uh... ya? Google's profits are literally driven by Ads. period.
>>
>>106627778
and how is that money steered? does the majority come from a small number of very large companies making very large purchases?

could these companies be influenced somehow? perhaps in exchange for promises of preferential treatment?
>>
>>106627304
>relying on client activity to count video views
saar please do redeem the views
>>
wait what. THAT'S how they fetch views?
>>
>>106627482
I don't believe it. Also most people watch from mobile/tablet.
>>
>>106628105
So desktop views dropping by half, while viewer counts for other platforms stayed the same, right after a desktop adblocker added an entry to block a Youtube server, is just a coincidence and the viewer drop happened for some other reason? Please do tell.

depends on the channel. some types of videos (e.g. speedruns) see most of their views come from tv. in the video he compares 3 vastly different channels and still finds the drop in desktop views. pic related is some girl that has mostly mobile viewers

kek I knew those idiots that were saying nobody uses adblockers were full of shit. No wonder jewgle literally fucked their entire browser just to gimp them
>>
>>106627341
Nah they already get "monetized views" metrics on their account they already know

>>
>>106627817
Not everything can be explained by your chud fantasies. Google needs ads.
>>
I have mostly stopped watching youtube over the last year. Even channels I liked have devolved into abject slop.
>>
>>106627463
I remember a guy once saying that a single person watching an ad gives the creator such a small fraction of cent, that one might as well pay a small token fee and be done with it. Youtube Premium is 10$ a month, but I wonder what the lowest possible cost would be to support current payouts.

Not to mention Youtubers already do in-video ads which are often more effective (but also skipable)

>in-video ad
the latest creator update said that they can now insert those segments dynamically so they will show up at random times, I'm guessing this is to stop Sponsorblock.
>>
>>106627476
stop this anti-semitic nonsense. they're thieves and provide nothing but a burden111one

what do you do now

Doomscroll 4cheddit, of course.
>>

A commonly quoted rate is a dollar per 1000 views. So that would be .1 cents per view, which is pretty small. If someone watched 10 videos a day, then that would be 300 videos in a month, which would cost 30 cents.
>>
>>106627304
fuck youtube, everyone should've stopped using it when they started forcing shorts tiktok slop into the algorithm. i hope adblockers keep killing the website
>>
>>106629314
It unironically isn't killing the site because more people watch Youtube on TV than desktop or even mobile.
>>
>>106627304
Brodie Robertson was the first to notice the drop in views here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hVwUjcsl6s
If this is true, it seems that 66.23% of a Linux channel audience is using ublock origin.
Very based.

>>106627463
How can I stole the content when it get sent to my PC with a bunch of crap that can be easily filtered out?
Cry about the fact that you're not getting paid. I will keep filtering out ads until the end of time. And if you manage to block me from accessing I will simply not watch/read/listen/play your content. You'll get no money either way.
>>
>>106628372
Same reason every site tries to force you into getting their shitty app that's vastly inferior to just using your browser.
