>Here's your fridge, bro
>>
Will people at least get some kind of discount on these fridges in return for the ads or are people paying full price on the fridges and still getting the ads anyway?
>>
Only dumbass people buy smart fridges.
>>
>>106629773
Worse. You pay full price, and samsung gets revenue from the ads indefinitely without your consent or compensation.
>>
kill me now
>>
>>106629773
Yes, that's the idea. I still wouldn't do it though. Or maybe I would if I knew that I could cheat, like disabling the sound and covering the screen.
>>
>>106629994
What's even the use case?
To have a tablet you can't move in a very awkward position?
Just buy an iPad and leave it on the counter?
>>
>>106629773
Soon the door won't even open until you've kept your eyes focused on the ad for 15 seconds.

Do these big gay globohomo companies have a cabal? I am honestly thinking of making a company that just sells purposely dumb shit because the old dumb appliances won’t last forever and no one is making new dumb ones. They are all trying to pull shit like this with gay smart shit. I want to make new dumb shit but I fear globohomo will collude to stop such efforts. They will strong arm the core part suppliers to not sell to a dumb-only company because deep down they know the consumers want that.

>>
>>106630228
Planned obsolescence is the business model to make a profit.
Regulatory capture to prevent competition. Also, if your company gets too big and does get passed regulations, then you still require a board.
>>
>>106630228
>Do these big gay globohomo companies have a cabal?
Do you really want /pol/ posting? Because that is how you get /pol/ posting.
Also dumb appliances probably aren't even legal anymore due to environmental regulations. I know dishwashers and washing machines have legal regulatory limits on water usage so all this "smart" crap may be a byproduct of they have to put the tech in anyway.

Why does every dystopian ficitional setting become more real every day? The point of this shit was that it was an absurd end of a slippery slope.
>>

They are, anybody can build a heat pump. The main problem is dialing it in well enough the whole fridge box is an acceptable temperature. Luckily they still make cheap fridges you can get without all this shit in them. And when they stop, rip all that shit out leaving only the motor and wire in a thermometer to control it.

Not the same thing. Washing machines have always had sensors. But "Smart" just means gluing an HD screen onto something nowadays.

>>
>“The door refused to open. It said, “Five cents, please.”
He searched his pockets. No more coins; nothing. “I’ll pay you tomorrow,” he told the door. Again he tried the knob. Again it remained locked tight. “What I pay you,” he informed it, “is in the nature of a gratuity; I don’t have to pay you.”
>“I think otherwise,” the door said. “Look in the purchase contract you signed when you bought this conapt.”
>In his desk drawer he found the contract; since signing it he had found it necessary to refer to the document many times. Sure enough; payment to his door for opening and shutting constituted a mandatory fee. Not a tip.
>“You discover I’m right,” the door said. It sounded smug.
>From the drawer beside the sink Joe Chip got a stainless steel knife; with it he began systematically to unscrew the bolt assembly of his apt’s money-gulping door.
>“I’ll sue you,” the door said as the first screw fell out.
>Joe Chip said, “I’ve never been sued by a door. But I guess I can live through it.”

Yes. A jewish one.

To keep this as neutral as possible, the reason we no longer have innovation for people, but innovation tailored to aristocrats, elites, and the government is because all the wealth and savings is concentrated to the 1%. The people who have connections to those who control the printing. And because congress sold out to these people (Israel, Switzerland, London, the strongholds of these people), we're basically an occupied territory.

AI is only as big as it is because automation is the tool of the elite. Human labor is always superior for production and innovation, but again, elites just want the most convenient slaves. They don't want intellect or common sense. They just want droves so they can live their comfortable degenerate lives controlling everything.

In that sense, yes, globohomo controls anything and everything. However, there is a way out of this without any violence. We just exit from the system. Get rid of all luxuries and return to the basics. This cabal only keeps living cause we depend on them, which they did on purpose.
>>
>>106631252
The reality of when the government/ elites have too much power, which happens in every society eventually. The western world has reached its end, so everything is about to crash.

Lol, lmao. There are already studies out there regarding the correlation between things seen while awake and the content of dreams. They are absolutely going to tailor content to influence what shows up in your dreams. The final form is normalizing cybernetics so audio/video can be played directly during sleep to advertise to you while you're unconscious. Keep in mind this is also already happening, with people who fall asleep to youtube or spotify etc. already listening to ads in their sleep.

for them to put ads in your dreams they will need a brain chip like in Neuromancer/Cyberpunk, we don't have the tech yet (you will need a very powerful CPU and a powerful GPU who are put into a chip half the size of a cigarret) to put it into someone brain without huge drawbacks while you can use it like a smartphone, for searching the internet, watching movies, making calls, taking photos etc otherwise people won't bother with it and it will be a failure like VR(even Apple failed to make it mainstream )

NTA, but you are missing his point. Dreams revisit the information assimilated while awake and sort that shit out. You will go bankrupt, because you will sell 1 fridge per person. Capitalism was legitimately a mistake, instead of making things that last a long time and work well, the goal is making something that lasts 1 day longer than the warranty period, and every few years you make the warranty shorter.

My old water heater lasted 40 years. My latest one lasted 15. The one I just bought, will be lucky to last 10. By the time I replace it, the standard will be 7 years, and by the time I replace that, the standard will be 5 years, what do you mean 10 year warranty, are you crazy?

Companies are very good at enshittening products. 100+ years ago, you could make a light bulb that would never fail, all the light bulb companies got together and went "this is bad for business, let's all promise to never make a bulb that lasts more than 5 years". And they did, and they still do. LED bulbs are the easiest thing in the world to make, and they are all made wrong on purpose so they burn out.

>let's all promise to never make a bulb that lasts more than 5 years
Bad example because there's a direct tradeoff between efficiency and longevity with incandescent bulbs. Everybody can see how long a bulb lasts, but no consumers had the tools to measure power use of individual devices back then. Limiting longevity was a reasonable means of avoiding an arms race to extremely inefficient bulbs.
>they are all made wrong on purpose
Dubai commissioned special efficient and reliable LED bulbs from Philips. There was so much demand for them that Philips released an improved version globally as their Ultra Efficient range. They're specced for 50000 hours and run cool enough that I believe it.

Only morons buy Samsung appliances. I have helped friends fix dishwashers and fridges in the past and the Samsung ones are always a bitch because you can't fix them half the time and all the indie repair people hate working on them. I have all Whirlpool shit. GE is decent too.

usecase for a smart fridge?
>>
>>106629644
smart appliances are the poorfag option. they make it cheaper because they make revenue passively off users. they sell your information (email, audio data, marketing deals), force you to use subscriptions, and send kill signals to specific parts of your appliance so you need to order a replacement. 'dumb' appliances always cost more because they know its a 1 and done purchase

it doesn't need a lot of force either, since the doors are usually magnetic nowadays

for starters when you open the fridge and how long you keep it open
I am sure it is possible to determine if you are putting in and taking out drinks or snacks or other stuff based on temperature sensors
>>
>>106650065
I guess it can also remind you if water filters are due for replacement or if a sensor is reading a bad value, not that a 14 segment 8 character display couldn't do the same.
There's also the whole android tablet glued to the door thing, but that hardly counts.

seems like the smart thing to do is to not get an expensive fridge that has no desirable features but may become part of a botnet in a couple of years. or upload a recording of you talking about your bank account with your mom on the phone to who knows where.

its like 1 step above camping and 1 below an actual camper. theres a certain charm that living in destitute positions has. The screen is cheap but is used for the purpose of market segmentation. Think of Tesla, they take a cheap lcd and replace expensive gauges and convince idiots its a premium feature.
They won't do away with the simple shit because its just too simple to make but they will try to convince people to buy the "premium" model with the screen.

easier diagnostics. Also reminds me if the door is open and it gives me other data like when it needs to turn on. how long it turns on etc. Even tells me how many times the door was open. If you like optimizing it can be fun. Mine doesn't have a camera but if it did I would probably set up automations to alert me when things are getting low or about to spoil. You can use AI vision. I also have frigate set up for my security cameras with AI vision.

>no screens/ads/bloat to spy on you
consumer grade equipment is the most bottom of the barrel dogshit they can get away with selling without getting sued.
>>
>>106650752
>I would probably set up automations to alert me when things are getting low or about to spoil.
You don't need a computer to do that you the human do that every time you open the fridge and look at its contents.
Hell you shouldn't even need to look after a lifetime you will know intuitively how long something will last.
>>
>>106650759

>>

Do you fucking live in Africa or maybe some third world shithole? Most of these fridges are going to be inside the fucking kitchen where the house is heated. Who the fuck is gonna stick a $3k appliance in the garage. You put large deep freezers in there. you retard.
>>
>>106650763
>you the human do that every time you open the fridge and look at its contents.
Do you really need me to explain why this isn't the case? I am a human I forget things. However you are right I could waste a few seconds of my time just looking at shit or I can automate something to do for me. I am not some third worldist that prides himself on doing worthless menial slave bullshit.
>you will know intuitively how long something will last.
I'm not the only one using the fridge. A lot of the time I don't even know what I order from grocery delivery I just order whatever other people add to it and order. Stop thinking like a slave and act like a white man (if you are white).
>>
>>106650768
not that anon but commercial fridges don't require 220v, at least not in the US, a quick search will show plenty that will run off a normal socket.
your stove will already have a special socket and so will your dryer. for a washer commercial washers will also run off a normal socket.
>>
>>106650818
>. A lot of the time I don't even know what I order from grocery delivery
I would never trust a grocery delivery service. I want to see my fruit, vegetables, and meat before i buy them. Shopping for food is one of the few rituals I refuse to replace with some online service.
Beyond that just date your food if you want to be autistic.
Not everything needs to be computerized and monitored by machine
>>
>>106650849
The way I fixed that is I know exactly what stores to order from for the best of each category. However I do think its an enjoyable experience to shop for fruits/vegetables at higher end establishments.
>Not everything needs to be computerized and monitored by machine
I don't see why not. That's just your preference to waste time writing things down when it can just be automated forever. Its a waste of time to me.

none of these things are worth the price of connecting it to Internet

it would be cool to have a smart fridge with cameras and a display that keeps track of the content inside and could make automatic shopping lists, but it would still need to be fully offline for me to consider buying it
