Graphics cards were a mistake. Now we have ugly looking, poorly performing games, and to play them we need to spend a lot of money to hang huge pieces of metal off of our motherboards that you need to support else you risk destroying your hardware, all while it dumps a ton of fucking heat into your PC and accounts for atleast half of your system's total power draw. Don't get me started on trying to fit large graphics card in certain cases or having to route 3 fucking thickass cables just to power these things.Graphics cards were a mistake, they don't even actually run many of the new games they use goyvidya magical frames and pixels to make the games playable at all. Return to intel graphics or AMD APUs.

>>106633339can't wait for the ai bubble to pop so i can build a cheap pc that isn't full of government spyware like the one i have now.
>>106633339Why are your gripes with Graphics card and unoptimized video games when they're targeting console hardware first and PC as an afterthought?
>>106633339My 7900xtx has zero of these issues. And just brute forces everything
Hardware progression is goodIt's just that software has been getting shittier by the day for more than a decadeIt's absolutely insane what you can squeeze out of a 200MHz processor with a few MBs of ram for example. While at the macro scale our collective computation power is achieving more, it's so bad at the micro scaleWhen we get to a gorillion terahertz and petabytes everything, we'll just manage find the most unoptimized way to generate clusterfuck abominations of code horrors never seen beforeO(n^n) and worse complexities await us
>>106633339You do know that there are more graphics cards than the flagship models, right?
Graphics cards in 2050 will have 50GB of Vram, Consoles will be running with 100gb of Ram, most likely in the petaflops range of rendering performance, with 7GHZ 16 core cpus, stacked with gigabytes of 3D cache and to top it off with state of the art RT & ML upscaling, yet graphics still won't be look as good on an industry scale as unrecorded(picrel).Truly grim
>>106633339I know right, the thought that some randos can have so much unregulated computing power in their houses frightens the heck out of me.
>>106633749>Graphics cards in 2050 will have 50GB of VramGraphics cards n 2050 will have 8GB of VRAM with AI Memory 8.7, with all new hallucinated textures.

>>106633765the consumer cards are severely gimped compared to the datacenter cards. like datacenter blackwell is chiplet+hbm while you got shitty gddr7 and cut down monolith.
>>106633339iGPUs FTW
>>106633769And cost $4k equivalent of today's money.
>>106633770I have riva tnt and ati radeon lying around. Some of them didn't even use fans. Quake 2 and Unreal are better than 99.99% fps games made to date.I use modern "graphics cards" for GPGPU
>>106633339Nah, fuck integrated graphics. Bring back software rendering.
>>106634006fuck graphics altogether, lets all play muds
>>106633339Return to? Graphics cards are older than integrated intel and amd graphics
>>106634065graphical muds can be played in software mode (cpu). at best it looks like a snes game.
BRING BACK VOXEL ENGINES, ENTIRELY COMPUTED ON CPU
>>106633749Chromatic aberration + vignette + fish-eye, its all post-process effects. And dev are just lazy asshole you can just bake lightning. You are left with high res texture and lot of pixel for the model that is what take all the memory
