Which brand of washing machines is the best? This time we picked Electrolux after Haier broke within a single year.

>>106634714Bosch (which is the exact same thing as Siemens nowadays), is garbage ever since they moved their production to Poland. But you could buy a 20 year old Bosch, exchange the dampers and the bearing, and it would easy last the next 20 years.Over ten times longer than a current Bosch would.
>>106635040Why?Nothing wrong with Electrolux, probably the most reliable manufacturer after Miele.Zanussi is B-tier quality at an F-tier price.
>>106634651Buy whatever is the cheapest.IDK why people fall for this trap of they don't by the cheapest thing because they want something that lasts but then the more expensive one dies just as easy or even easierTop loading washers, top freezer fridges or just any of the cheaper/basic appliances I see are 20 years old.Anything that has deviated from the basic designs where replaced sooner.
>>106635446Washing machines experience a lot of abuse. They literally shake themselves apart. The cheapest garbage will break in a couple of years and then you have the expense and hassle of getting it replaced.
Don't you guys like the front load machines? I've never seen a top load for sale in my country.
>>106635641Small bathrooms I'm guessing, top load can be put in a corner. Also which country? They are commonplace in Nordick
>>106634651I buy basic amana units. The current one has lasted me quite some time and was only 400 dollars.

>>106635641>>106635844Top loaders are cheaper, incredibly easy to repair yourself, and don't suffer from leakage/odor/mold issues like front-loaders often do. I've also noticed a lot of older people with bad backs like them because you don't have to bend over as much.
>>106635205>probably the most reliableHAHAHAHAHAHAHAT. Electrolux agent.
>>106634651Note that this is mostly relevant to the US: Speedqueen washers are by-and-away the most reliable, but also expensive as fuck, small, and I've heard their warranty/customer service is pretty shit. LG washers generally rank second in terms of reliability and are probably the best all-around choice. Whirlpool washers have by far the most parts availability/servicemen willing to work on them, but their quality is getting worse and worse, and for the past several years they've been plagued with serious control board problems. Samsung is terrible and should be avoided. To be honest, all washing machines are shit nowadays and quality is dropping across the board (even the Speedqueens).

>>106636749She's acwise woman. Front loaders take up more space for no reason.
>>106636558The /g/ answer is that you should learn to repair your washer (most repairs are quite simple and not terribly difficult to diagnose), and all of your other appliances, for that matter. So many people throw away appliances that could be fixed with a $1 door switch (or another cheap part) and replace them with a brand new piece of garbage that looks nice, but is far lower quality.
>>106634651Maytag/SpeedQueen/Electrlux are all good as long as you get an actual residential one. Yours looks like one of those amazon portable piles of junk made for a camper. Also top-load > front load

I had a nice kinda modern (non smart) Bosch that worked great but it did a barrel roll over the street when I moved cause of my brother being overly confident he could lift it out of the truck by himself and then it was dead. Replaced it with an older second hand AEG Lavamat and it's been fine, albeit more simple (which isn't necessarily bad). Bit limited in programming postponed start times.

>>106642195If that's like a "secondary sink" that you just scrub oily clothes in before putting them into the machine it's fine. The toothbrush tells me otherwise tho.How many months of not cleaning is that? I sometimes go three months without and my sink was never even close to being that filthy, it just gets a bit dusty around the edges. Also, post hands.
And post passport too so we know which country

>>106634651I had a Whirlpool that went bust after 4 years due to the chipset burning out. Then I had a very cheap Indesit for 13 years that was rather loud and once it became too rusty I changed it for a Gorenje which is basically Chinese now it's HiSense. It's very fast, very quiet, rated for 7-8kgs, don't know how much it consumes yet. It's just a simple 300usd washer. It doesn't have a dryer I have a porch so I don't need that.
Midea is a good and cheap brand nowadays.
>>106641071It's used in smaller apartment housing; as a concession on effective use of available space. It typically is considered nasty and a last resort kind of thing.More common is to put the washer and dryer in the attic of a house. (Many European houses have full floor attics accessible via a full staircase that might as well be a third floor altogether. None of that plywood flimsy flooring and fold-up stairs.)Or to put them in a side-area of the pantry, often next to storage of cleaning agents and gear, and other non-consumables.

>>106642960I'm in Europe, my washing machine is made in Germany and I haven't had any problems with it in the 15 years since I bought it.If I can criticise anything, it weighs 93kg (200lbs) making it very difficult to move if you ever need to.
>>106644536Never saw "miele" in Poland in the wild.
>>106634651I also have an Electrolux top-loader like that I got after a bathroom renovation in 2023 where I couldn't fit a front-loader anymore. It works fine. For front loaders I've been quite happy with mid-range Siemens machines. Used them for years without issues.
>>106636707>why does everything in eastern europe look old, dirty, and depressing? That's how communism works.
Its not about the brand but where it was madeGermany/France/Western Europe - Would last forever Eastern Europe/Turkey - either breaks down after 2 years or lasts forever, depending whether the assembly line workers were sober on that day. Korea/China/SEA - dog shit
>>106646024In my experience appliances from china last 10 years or more.
>>106646056Fuck you China. Your piece of shit broke after one year and then you failed to repair it under warranty.
>>106646070Are you talking about a washing machine?
I just bought an Indesit front loader with inverter motor and knobs instead of buttons. It replaced a 20 years old Siemens that still worked but kept freezing during working, it was a matter of pushing again the start button but this way the wash could last forever if you forget or have other thing to do. Before it I had San Giorgio that lasted for another 20 years.I'm skeptical that this one will last 20 years but who knows, so far is more silent and faster.
You could actually fix old washing machines, but it's pointless trying to fix modern ones. You can open them up but there's really not much you can do apart from replacing the whole thing.
LGs are the best
>>106642160>>106642992I know this is true but I still have trouble understanding it in my head. Why are they like this.
>>106636056How is Speed Queen's service shit? They seem to have a good rep with people who afforded them, and they have trusted appliance repair places that are supposedly certified, which is nice if you have say, a home warranty from someplace like First American.I will agree with Whirlpool. They were the brand for our washer and dryer at our old place, and they were fine, but when I was on the sales floor I could tell they were getting worse build quality than the stuff that was for sale in the used appliances section of the store.>>106635892Yeah, I agree. I owned a Top loader, and it was nice, but I live with my autistic brother and he's literally unable to comprehend how to load clothes into the wash drum. Even I struggled with it a bit. When we moved into our townhome, they gave us brand new GE washer and dryer and we said fuck it and kept those after we had them inspected and serviced. The advantage of a side loader is that the drum is mounted horizontally. During the tumbling wash action and the subsequent spin cycle, gravity works to its advantage. As the drum rotates, the clothes are continuously lifted and then fall back to the bottom. This tumbling motion naturally helps to distribute the load more evenly before the high-speed spin begins, so when we load clothing, we can just dump them in and forget about it. I've also come to learn that Front-loaders utilize a suspension system more akin to that of a car. They employ shock absorbers and springs that are designed to absorb the vibrations and movements of the drum during the spin cycle. So the convenience factor alone made me decide to keep buying side loaders and I guess keep the door propped open and clean them often.
>>106646618LGs suck dick, I had mine of 10 years fail on me this summer due to the drain pump giving out
>>10664667310 years is great nowadays
Both my mini dryer and washer were cheap and they don't do the best of jobs. The dryer in particular is very slow and doesn't get the wrinkles out. But it is still better than I had before, which was nothing.

>>106634996Always crop the photo a little and it won't be rotated.
>>106646643Probably has something to do with men being allowed to be rancid and filthy basically whenever they want, whereas women experience a pressure from society to always present as prim and proper. The restroom is probably something of a last free haven where they can pig out. So that's what they do.

MIELE novotronic from the 80s, that you can repair on your own if it breaks. Bosch washing machines from the same era are good too.Don't buy anything without knobsDon't buy any fancy display machines with useless features
Big bucket, tallow soap, and a washing board. Never buy cotton or synthetics except outer layers that barely need washing. Not for beddings either. Wool/linen/whatever actually good materials cost more but don't require washing all the time. Not even boxers, whereas cotton or petrochemicals stink in less than a day of wear.Insisting on big loud machines, basically this >>106648779. They didn't know about planned obsolescence in West Germany. But nothing is forever so staying machine dependent you'll eventually end up with some modern garbage you need to replace every five years.
