I want to start making art and games and stuff and use my computer as a work station. But im hyper paranoid of getting my art stolen digitally. Ive learned too much about software to feel safe, and i have this feeling that theres backdoors and telemetry in everything and it paralyzes me from getting started. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? I was thinking to disconnect my pc from the internet but what if the government has some shit that gets through that? What if intel put back doors in the hardware of the processor? And if im disconnected then how would i update krita when new versions come out? Am i overthinking this? Pic unrelated.
>>106638394you don't really own something once you create it. once something exits your mind it can only nominally be "yours", but in esse you have no ownership over it
A part deep inside my brain really wishes for posts like this to be AI generated, there is just no way people like this exist.
Why would someone target you specifically? There is plenty of art and games out there already , are they all being exploited in ways you fear you will be?
>>106638394
>>106638452Well im inspired by a lot of edgy stuff so i want to make my own edgy stuff and protest art. So if any of my art gets even slightly popular i will likely be targeted by someone who got "offended"
>>106638462Yes, i do.
>>106638394It's an unavoidable problem for everyone right now, and while your first thought might be "I'll hide my shit" you actually want to set up a portfolio, a website, and other things that can provably demonstrate that you owned x y z pieces of art that you yourself created and hosted at your domain. It'll still get stolen by AI, that's unavoidable; it's a problem everyone has. What you need to worry about is someone stealing your art and selling it, which is also a problem everyone faces, and it's just kind of the price of success. Now what you DO need to do though is backup your art, your code, whatever you make and also create a kind of browsable timeline for yourself where you can SEE what all you've made and when. It'll super help your motivation because you'll be thinking "I haven't done anything, I haven't learned anything, I'm not getting any better" but actually when you look at what you've made and what you're making now, you'll see the improvement and feel better. One other thing, is that it is worth your time learning a little bit about how to setup VMs so that you can have your programming stuff running in its own Virtual Machine. That's because sometimes, not often, but sometimes you're going to write a bizarre bug that halts your system. It's also just good practice to insulate yourself against supply chain attacks and the like (a recent problem with NPM) and also Python in particular shits up your computer so a VN is almost mandatory there.
>>106638473you sound like you're 16 years oldthere is literally nothing that edgy, and you'd only get people targeting you if you're going out of your way to be a dick or something. like nobody gonna give any fucks whatsoever how many times you draw trumps face being blown up or a dick flying into charlie kirks neck wound, what matters is if you go around spamming that shit on /pol/ and twitter as a way to get followers>I was thinking to disconnect my pc from the internet but what if the government has some shit that gets through that?unless you're drawing nuclear bomb instructions, why would the government be looking at you? you do realize that CP is one of the most popular forms of art and there are literally multiple boards ON THIS WEBSITE dedicated to loli and underage anime girls????whatever slop you draw isn't gonna be worse than that anon
>>106638394yeah there's thieves everywhere. your only real comfort is that most of them are trying to steal more valuable stuff than your amateur work, and if you actually do make something valuable at least copyright protects you against the worst commercial violations
god I love this characterback on topic, even just for simple programs, I am moreso conflicted on licenses and deciding on hostingmakes me wish /g/ had some sort of hosting, akin to how /vg/hgg/ has a "bin" of sorts
>>106638546>theres literally nothing that edgyA man just got murdered for having moerately center-right political views.
>>106638519Thank you very much for making a sincere and helpful post instead of the shitflinging the other fags here are doing.
>>106638546First of all, ellon thechud musk does ban loli on twitter. most social media sites do. google's adsense tos bans it too. contrary to anon's personal beliefs, lots of people actually hate anime in all its forms.>but ive seenyeah, it just takes awhile for the jannies to clean it up sometimes. Of course, you can find a lot of loli on the internet..... but you wont find any by a western artist using their real name or any form of western payment processor to bankroll their art. Loli is 'legal' in some states, 'illegal' in others, and technically illegal federally but not enforced. however, the government will go after you when you try to monetize your art because now youve heckin crossed state lines and are a distributor of the heckin illegal contentirino and now its worth the fed's time to fuck with you because its the easiest to grab of the lowest hanging fruit, assuming you havent already been dumped by every payment processor in the west for 'violating the heckin community guidelines'. Whether you are drawing loli art or just edgy dark humor, you should do your best to be anonymous when posting online. Even in japan where its still kinda mainstream, famous loli artists usually use a psuedonim when posting UHOHHH and use a seperate account for their more mainstream normie art work. The only exceptions to this rule are rich japanese oldfags who have already made it big and dont have to care about getting hired or fired because theyve been publishing since the 80s/90s and have a mountain of royalties coming in ie 'fuck you' money.
>>106639183>yeah, it just takes awhile for the jannies to clean it up sometimes.go to settings and enable all boards you retard
>>106638394>But im hyper paranoid of getting my art stolen digitally.learn to make tangible artwork in the real world and you'll never have to worry about that again
>>106638473You mean like how Pepe became what it is? I guess it was a little edgy in the original context. You can't help that. The purpose of edgy or protest art is to coax a reaction out of people, so really it achieves your goal?Maybe don't make it too ironic?
>>106638394you cannot publish something and keep it "yours" at the same time, once it's out in the public, it WILL be stolen. learn to live with it
>>106638546>what matters is if you go around spamming that shit on /pol/ and twitter as a way to get followersum but what if someone else does that for youare you saying that attracting any attention to yourself can be interpreted as mean-spirited?
You can't stop it. I pirated over 16 TB of content of the years but if the content is good and resonates with me I will buy it because I want to support it.
>>106638519Based post
>>106638394after you finish print it out and wipe the drive.
>>106638394Oh my god imagine being this much of a faggot. If you don't upload it to the internet, or share it with anybody, then it's never going to get stolen. Especially if you're not some GOD tier artist who's worth going out of anyone's way to steal from in the first place.
>>106638394nobody gives one single fuck about your shitty furry 'art', please be serious
>>106641147>>106641550>no one cares no one cares no one cares!A man was just murdered for having moderate center-right opinions.
>>106641659He went out of his way to make those opinions public.Nobody cares enough about your shitty art to exploit esoteric hardware backdoors just to get more than what you've already posted online. LMAO. Just practice reasonable opsec, don't upload anything you don't want anyone else to see to the internet, and you'll be 100% fine
