Nah bud I ain't got 400 dollars to blow on a kitchen knife maybe if I had more money than sense gettin paid beaucoup bucks to MKULTRA every living soul with a smartphone to scroll endless ads on some content aggregation platform full of AI sloppa and women of questionable morals shilling scams and knick knacks in spandex. >>

Vibrating knives have been a thing for decades, they work well but only for relatively hard, brittle materials. Most kitchen tasks won't see any benefit. Would work great on crusty bread or bones, tho.

I watched some of the video. A properly sharpened knife will give you the same results. Techbro nonsense makes me roll my eyes so hard. Techbros and modern capitalism is about making up a problem and then selling you the solution. If you take a course about entrepeneurship they always talk about finding problems and coming up with a solution but a lot of our modern day problems already have simple, affordable and reliable solutions so people have to come up with non-existent problems and then push that on everyone so they buy their solution. Unironically you're better of just making something that already exist and offer a good, reliable and trustworthy version of it instead if you're doing a startup. The most successful startup guys I've known are people running like cleaning companies and the like, not techbros.

that is a business not a startup. a startup is a type of company designed for rapid and massive growth. you get investment to go from no product or service to a large customer base (in revenue or cust. numbers) quickly. to scale rapidly. to increase company value.
many people call new companies startups but they are incorrect in using that term.

China already had a patent on this over a decade ago. The patent has expired, so now people are making their own (making, as in buying from China, and dropshipping it to the west).

This shit has always existed. People just didn't buy them. This guy is trying to rebrand Chinese knives and pretend it's "wow western innovation!!!" and try to get them sold at $400 a pop before the public becomes aware that they were also a thing but never popular.

Nobody will be talking about this knife in 2026.

I like to pretend to be a Samurai when I cut food stuffs in the kitchen and that would feel weird if I had to insert a battery into my knife and press down a button. Also, who in the hell cuts by just pressing down a blade without any sawing motion? Ultrasonic knifes make sense on cutting machines that can only move on one axis but my arms have more degrees of freedom so I don't just move the blade into the object like a moron.
Learn knife skills instead, it's not that hard.
This might be a nice product for people with disabilities but regular people don't need this.

I would totally play with it if I happen to get one into my hands but I doubt I would be tempted to add this kind of gimmicky tool to my kitchen arsenal.

>>106648714
That's pretty cool but if you know how to actually use a knife it isn't really an improvement. You already put the knife in motion when you cut, you push it forward or pull it back, that smooth pulling or pushing motion is the same effect as this knife's fluctuations. The only thing this knife is a lot better at is cutting straight down, which nobody does because that's not how you use a knife. When you use a normal knife properly it is already a frictionless cut.

I do appreciate that food doesn't stick to the knife, that is useful, but ultimately it won't perform any better than a decent traditional knife if you know how to use it properly.
>>
>>106670067
What if the knife is vibrating AND you try cutting like a normal knife?
>>
>>106658796
Yeah the guy took existing industrial technology and put it in a consumer knife where it isn't nearly as useful. The only reason it is useful in industrial settings is because it simplifies the machinery, the blade doesn't need to travel laterally to cut properly, and also the non-stick.
>>
>>106670105
It would barely make a difference because the microabrasions on the edge of the blade are doing the same thing already when you drag the blade across whatever it is you're cutting. I'm a butcher by trade so I know well enough that even a cheap shitty knife if sharpened properly is virtually frictionless already.
>>
>>106670067
it seems to be nice for cutting soft cake without smushing it
>>
>>106670338
Yeah that's due to the non-stick feature which is actually useful, a normal knife squishes cake because it sticks to the sides.

>not everyone can afford an electric knife sharpener
I got my knife sharpener at Daiso for 100 yen. It's not electric, it's just a little plastic thing with a whetstone wheel inside
>>
>>106670067
>When you use a normal knife properly it is already a frictionless cut.
counterpoint: most normies don't have good knives that offer this experience, which is why there's so many gimmick knives on the market.
op device is yet again retarded techbros with no experience of the world create a solution to a problem they only have because they are ignorant.

>>106670338
case in point. use either the point of the knife to begin your cut and then slice outward, or slice across from the start like a pizza. or use a serrated knife as you would for bread. niggas really out here saying they're the future of everything and they can't even cut a fucking cake on their own
>>
I got a ~$60 chefs knife and a $20 sharpener. I'm good
>>
>>106650010
I have one of these things. It's not the UK one, but looks almost identical with the same kind of advertising.
>World's sharpest
>Gauranteed forever
>You break, we send you a new one for free
I found it deep in a kitchen cabinet.
I tried it and it's actually a great bread knife so I kept it.
It's one of the gifts left in this house to me by the previous owner, who went insane and was locked up in the looney bin.
>>
>>106649053
>buy a 400$ knife instead of a 150$ electric sharpener
also if you were slightly less of a moron you can get a whetstone for 10$ or one of those manual sharpeners thats basically a bunch of interlocking washers for even less (technically its a honer but it's probably made of harder stuff than your knife so it'll work in a pinch)
>>
We really need to start killing VC techbros
>>
>>106670105
it would probably be worse because it would be wobbling from side to side a little bit

Yeah but will it cut paper/hair???????? I think people see anything related to knives as a hobby but cutting hair easily is considered top quality performance.

Decent $30 knives go for years without sharpening in daily residential use. Good steel is so cheap now it's ridiculous.

While they're at it, they should make a sonicating marinade bath for accelerated tenderization.

That's what happens when you allow the Persians/jews to win since year -500.

If you allowed white people to live then this mentality wouldn't infect EVERYTHING.

So a perfect analogical tool gets converted to a battery dependent tool with updates from the internet and a obligatory subscription fee or your knife get bricked and we call that progress?

Umm

>I expect the Chinese factory that produces these will be running parallel production and you'll be able to pick it up on aliexpress for $30 in about a month kek
This. It's still a good concept but $400 is a but much. I'll pick one up later when they become more ubiquitous/cheap.
Would make slicing very tender cakes with lots of sticky icing much better.

>While they're at it, they should make a sonicating marinade bath for accelerated tenderization.
They actually should as Guga demonstrated it really works and the results were independently replicated:

>will it cut paper/hair
I can get my chef's knives sharp enough to do paper but they really aren't meant for grooming.
That is always a funny thing, watch this knife cut cardboard! It can shave your dog! Now we'll cut a can in half! Look, it still cuts a tomato! This says nothing of the knife's ability to cut 100 tomatoes, or move from veg to meat. It's an ergonomics issue, which is at least as /g/ as the metallurgy involved.

guga is a hack and tenderizing meat is best done by soaking it in an acidic and flavorful solution

"tenderizing" a steak is american cope for chain steakhouse restaurants not using any herbs or spices and serving their steaks burnt with ketchup out of fear of getting sued by someone scared of rare meat

a $30 ultrasonic knife, when china copies the idea, will last even longer

I've heard from a physics professor that they did research about sex toys that work with ultrasound.
The tissue got damaged from cavitation so that obviously went nowhere.
