Can you pass a leetcode interview?
>>106662289Thete are no leetcode interviews, dumb zoomer indian
>>106662406Unfortunately, every interview now includes at least 3 leetcode mediums.t. recently had several interviews
It annoys me how fucking narcissistic Theo is.
The reason leetcode interviews exists is because companies are legally not allowed to test your IQ.The loophole is to administer what is effectively an IQ test but they can claim that they are testing job-relevant skills.
>>106662448>because companies are legally not allowed to test your IQ.is this true? It would honestly explain so much
>>106662289No because I refuse to do one if required to lmaoIf I'm not getting paid for the code I write then you're making me work illegally.
>>106662482Depends on your country. It's true in the USA (Griggs vs Duke Power)
no
>>106662482>leet code >IQI went to Uni with people who got As and didn't know how to do basic EEE and Python. Most of them disappeared 1st year.
For people who don't get the joke, Jarred (the guy who wrote bun (a js runtime in zig) couldn't get a job at FAGMAN due to their hiring practices, being a highschool dropout etc. Zig is a data-oriented language which means you can essentially change up your structs after you've written the high level code without having to rewrite that code. Makes it many times easier to be performant on target hardware.
>>106662521Damn, everything makes more sense now. I too would use everything in my power to weed out retards. I just feel like it's not really working the USA because companies over there are stock full of retards.>>106662541They cheated anon, they cheated to get there.
>>106662555Nobofy asked because we decided to have an actual discussion instead of worrying about some social media dude
>>106662555Not just a js runtime but a full npm replacement (which matters cause jstards literally pull in tens/hundreds of thousands of dependencies)And you can write SOA and struct agnostic code in languages like C, C++ and Rust but you would have to architect your own macro/template system from the start to do that zig and jai make this part of the language>>106662482>>106662448That makes no sense, in practice leetcode only weeds out both high and low IQ people that didn't study whatever you happened to pick, since you need at least 140IQ for software this kind of testing will overwhelmingly give you low IQ that studied and probably 0 140IQ (cause why they fuck would they work for you if they can already program unless you have major capital backing)
>>106662418What ?!Who's idea was that ???
>>106662418Where? Lmao. Most civilized countries wouldn't allow that unless they paid you for it.
>>106662605I have no idea, but I assume it was someone non-technical in HR. >>106662617Los Estados Unidos, so civilized is arguable.
Is neetcode considered less dumb and arbitrary than leetcode?
>>106662289Probably not.But I can code MIPS assembly for the PS2.
>>106662646Nope. He who seeks for methods without having a definite problem in mind seeks for the most part in vain.We already have a well defined set of basic primatives that you must learn asm+c everything else is build ontop of this to solve specific problems. If I was hiring not knowing a flags, address arithmetic, pointers, how to add two numbers is a much bigger red flag than not knowing what a file or tree is. If they know the basics of the c language or of any assembly language I can easily teach them how to write a tree. If they know how to write a tree, but don't understand the basics of c or asm then they literally just memorized it from a book/class or whatever.
>>106662561After that court ruling the first IQ text proxy became a college degree. Schools had higher standards back then and if you were able to get in and graduate, companies felt safe assuming you were at least 120+. Then politicians and activists started noticing that people with college degrees earned significantly more than those without degrees. They went about making changes so that even people with two digit IQs could get college degrees, at which point it ceased to be a good proxy for IQ. Which is why you now have to do a bunch of stupid shit like leetcode even if you have a degree from a good school.
>>106662482I'm in Europe but I had an explicit IQ test like questions when applying to a huge American tech company, so I'm pretty sure that's bs. Shit like mental rotation, mental arithmetic, visual memory, etc., none of which had anything to do with the position. I literally got rejected based on this initial test. They didn't even talk to me before having me take the test.
>>106662289>losers from a google platform>saying thingscompletely worthless and comical at best.>>106662448any knuckle dragging primate can pass a "leetcode" test. this is why iq testing is a thing of the past. anyone can train themselves to pass these trash tests. there's websites dedicated to helping literal retards to score higher. >>106662945never heard of any business using such iq testing before for an interview. they must be absolute fucking garbage or they're trying to show the federal government that they can't find anyone suitable for the job! (this is the main reason for such bullshit leetcode tests). then the jobs are sent to indina or some other third world shithole, where you can be guaranteed those losers don't have to do any testing.. but they are only getting paid $5-$10hr.. after their recruiter takes a cut.
>>106663000> anyone can train themselves to pass these trash testsKeep telling yourself that. You didn't get 100 because you didn't train, it's because you weren't born smart enough.A good IQ test is designed in a way that you can't train for it. Because in fact, you can't gain intelligence as an adult, you can only lose it.
can I use codewars for leetcoding too?
If the interview is some retarded shit like inverting a binary tree, sure, that shit is one of the most basic things in programming
>>106662924>schizo gibberishyou can tell it's been written by someone whos iq would be the same temperature as ice, in Celsius. the main reason why iq testing was relegated to the world of quackery, where it belongs, is simple to understand;>anyone can pass the tests with enough training>tests are written to be far too narrow in scopeand the best part..>they've never been an accurate representation of human intelligence and is mostly based on ancient pseudosciencei'm sure you're the same kind of crayon eating, special bus riding, padded jacket wearing fucking retard that also believes that lie detectors are 100% accurate and can't be fooled.
>>106662735>If I was hiring not knowing a flags, address arithmetic, pointers, how to add two numbers is a much bigger red flag than not knowing what a file or tree is.thats why you have to say "if"
>>106663027>Keep telling yourself that. i don't need to tell myself anything. it's fact. you're just so fucking stupid that you truly believe you are some kind of fucking genius, on a level like einstein, because you can solve logic puzzles, that even the dumbest of dumb fuck monkeys can learn. your reply alone demonstrates just how fucking retarded you are. please, tell us more about this pseudoscience hogwash that nobody in the real world takes seriously, and can be beaten by anyone.. well, except you. you're just a dumb cunt.
>>106662289it's just a legal way of doing an IQ filter
>>106663062Woah, anon. I'm truly sorry the test said you're a midwit, but it's not my fault, you know? Try to relax, drink some green tea, that way you won't get so angry at people for being smarter than you.
>>106663091you're not smarter than anyone, just a garden variety fucking moron that spends his time licking the windows of busses.
>>106663097>you're not smarter than anyone, just a garden variety fucking moron that spends his time licking the windows of busses.salty, weird, stupppiiiid guy
>>106663118>he's really thinks leetcode and iq tests can't be learned and beaten>proceeds to have mental breakdownit's not /g/'s fault that you are a massive loser that has no comprehension of how things work. when is the suicide livestream?
>>106663155> >proceeds to have mental breakdownIdk, anon, from how mad you sound I'd say you're the one with a breakdown here.
>>106663170>nooo! it's everyone else!>*replies to every post*not just a loser but a raging loser. please kill yourself as soon as possible. you're far too stupid to live. and remarkably far too stupid for this website. but anyone reading your mental breakdown can easily tell that you must have scored high on some website, only to come here to realize you're still a loser and your scores mean nothing - since it's nothing more than quackery. will there be a livestream suicide soon? i don't have all day.
>>106663196>not just a loser but a raging loser. please kill yourself as soon as possible. you're far too stupid to live. and remarkably far too stupid for this website. but anyone reading your mental breakdown can easily tell that you must have scored high on some website, only to come here to realize you're still a loser and your scores mean nothing - since it's nothing more than quackery. will there be a livestream suicide soon? i don't have all day.salty and weeeird
>>106663045It's funny when an ESL tries to use English and fails without realizing how terrible their language abilities are.
>>106662599>need at least 140iq for softwaresoftware is a long stretch from being a scribe job for women like it used to be but it isn't radically different either. Software really isn't some zenith of problem solving I don't know why all dev shitters think they are some 1980's Bell Labs researchers. You are all simply the next generation of skilled labor particularly if you work in web software and not anything competitive or intrinsically difficult like modelling, financial, or high performance areas. If this were the 1950's 99% of you would be working at the Ford plant in various skilled roles.leetcode type questions fundamentally test abstraction. In theory well designed word problems do not give away the type of question that is being asked and require some initial thought about how to translate the problem into something you know how to solve and this is the only "difficult" step. Poorly built leetcode type questions give away the core of the problem right away and then imply that an optimal solution is required which just means you needed to memorize the solution a smart person came up with 20 years ago. No one expects you no matter how smart to rederive a the same solution if you haven't seen it already unless your specialty is algorithm design and analysis which for 99.5% of devs it isn't.
>>106663045>IQ has been debunked!lmao, and can i get a source on this claim>they've never been an accurate representation of human intelligence and is mostly based on ancient pseudoscience
>>106663027>A good IQ test is designed in a way that you can't train for it.Are you saying there are no good IQ test?If you don't know shit like complete induction, you will not do well on an adult IQ test. For most people who know it, that is an acquired skill.
>>106662448Leetcode is a mixture of a humiliation ritual and an obedience test to see if you’re able to follow instructions. lol if you believe it has anything to do with IQ
>>106662289Yes I could. But how is writing a binary search tree from scratch going to help me write the frontend of a website? This has been my main question for like 3 years now. Interviewers don't have an answer.
>>106664235I'm saying since we can only gauge intelligence in a man's ability to recognize patterns, then a test that's fairly simple in its essense and is only about finding a pattern is the best you can get, since it doesn't rely on pretty much any knowledge whatsoever, just your raw pattern-finding ability. The only ways you can "train" for this shit are either remembering as many tasks as possible or simply preparing your mental state, ensuring you're not sleepy or malnutritioned, stuff like that. I say it's good enough, and we apparently even have some evidence it's kinda working.Problem with leetcode is that it is indeed trainable, but a good interviewer will know how to use it regardless. I've had 2 buddies who both had leetcode problems at the interviews, one solved 4, the other 1 and a half. The latter was rated higher for this task, why? Because instead of seeing the guy just remember how to solve each problem, he saw the way the guy thought, his approach at solving something he's clearly seen for the first time.>>106663196Uh-oh anon still having a melty over a midwit IQ test result.
