I support a small water district. Old manager was a 30 something woman. Told her stuff once, she took notes, got shit done. Work week was 20 hours. She left to be a mother.


They replaced her with a 50 something woman with a masters. She said she’s pulling 50 some hours and falling behind. I always kept old managers data so new folks can look back for useful sheets and notes they took. She spread her data across 3 managers folders, and 2 different one drive accounts. Complains she cant find anything.


Offer to sit down with her and sort it out. She arrives 20 minutes late at 9:50. I ask her what we should start with. She says “let me thing for a second”. I swear it was 2-3 minutes of silence. I make a suggestion and she says “ hold on let me think”. Then she lists 6 different things ins 6 different places. I start with the first and she says “hold on, dont move it, im afraid ill lose it”.

So i decide to look at her email since shes afraid she got hacked. 200 users in her microsoft account. Delete them, reset her email pssword. Scan and dism, reboot. Now her pin is invalid. Guess she made her windows account a microsoft account and didnt tell me. Okay, reset pin. Button doesnt work. Look online for 2 hours for various ways to bypass the pin. You cant. Recreated her profile and installed applications and left. 5 hours of work and nothinf accompished.

Hey anons to make a long short I had a manic episode two years back that I'm still waiting to get probation for. I originally had an offer with a company to be contracted to my local airport but they can't go forward until the records are expunged or sealed so they had to pull the offer. My point of contact felt bad for me but said I can reapply in six months (even though the same scenario would most likely happen). I received an e-mail from NBIS to fill out their forms to continue vetting for my public trust designation. I reached out to my security/background check point of contact with the company and she said I can ignore it, but should I still fill it out? It was originally a public trust with the TSA, but if the option's there I don't see why I shouldn't try again. I originally did this during my manic episode as well, but I never got my results because I lost access to my e-mail after that episode.

I encounter so much a.i. generated garbage code of some junior/medior developers. it's astonishing how they are so fucking blind to the trash code they offer in pull requests
I get so many garbage PRs that should all be shot down or I spend a week going back and forth with the developer so it gets in an acceptable state.
I get pull requests of developers that I pull in a meeting asking about the requirements. And they stare at me blank face and have no idea what the fuck the requirements were. So I pass the ticket back to the product owner telling them to give some clarity.
I started approving pull requests without doing any kind of code review as long as some other reviewer said they tested it.
Senior developers and team leads that say, welll it's just a small thing, does it really need to be fixed? Or just putting code blatantly at the wrong place because they are too fucking incompentent.
Trying to improve 1 week of tech debt a month, while 6 months of tech debt is being build in 1 month time.

I switched to computer science and coding from machining because I was fed up with just being a coq in a machine that feeds some stupid ass production line with the same shit everyday without bringing anything valuable to this world. Well i struggled my way here and grinded a fuckton, basically just been living and breathing code and computer systems so I can make "it". Now I am in my first internship and it's literally the same bullshit, there is no value in any of these and we are just selling some shitty ass product that is full of shitty bubble-gum solutions that barely holds together for massive amounts of money and I once again find myself a coq in a machine that brings nothing to no one. How the fuck am I supposed to deal with this? Atleast I can work remotely and get paid a lot better so it's not like it was all a waste but jesus christ dude. The more I know the more I hate the internet and computers and what all our systems are built upon
