Last night we streamed that new Naked Gun movie. It wasn't as funny as I thought it would be, still entertaining though (we had a $10 credit so it was free).But we watched it through FandangoAtHome in 4K UHD. And every couple seconds it was like the stream was trying to buffer, then would continue.Instead of using our Roku we tried the Xbox which should have better WiFi and more than enough juice to process 4K HDR. Nope does the same shit. If you lowered it to 1080p SDR, then it ran fine.We also tried streaming some Marvel capeshit off of AppleTV app as well and that one kept dying every few minutes no matter which system we used.WiFi speeds tested fine, we even have both of these devices on our 5GHz band.My gf wonders why I still buy physical media. We ended up watching another movie and she told me get out the Blu-ray so it doesn't buffer and shit.Are physical chads the real winners?And yes before you ask my gf is a Jap.

So for any NON-GOOK lovers here that are legit curious about the OP question, streaming services use ASICs to encode videos, not CPUs. This means that the bitrate required is pretty bloated which leads to buffering problems especially in 4K video.It doesn't help that a lot of dumb boomer tech leadership insists on using H264 ASICs instead of newer AV1 ASICs further compounding the problem because they're terrified joe 6 pack won't be able to decode 4K AV1 fast enough on his 2010 Apple TV.
