reposting from old thread since I made a mistake of posting to a dying one:I switched to computer science and coding from machining because I was fed up with just being a coq in a machine that feeds some stupid ass production line with the same shit everyday without bringing anything valuable to this world. Well i struggled my way here and grinded a fuckton, basically just been living and breathing code and computer systems so I can make "it". Now I am in my first internship and it's literally the same bullshit, there is no value in any of these and we are just selling some shitty ass product that is full of shitty bubble-gum solutions that barely holds together that makes a lot of money despite me not understanding what the fuck is the point of it (some AI bullshit) and I once again find myself a coq in a machine that brings nothing to no one. How the fuck am I supposed to deal with this? Atleast I can work remotely and get paid a lot better so it's not like it was all a waste but jesus christ dude. The more I know the more I hate the internet, web, computers and what all our systems are built upon

Hello
I gave the person sixty minutes so he can fortify his position. Seems the ethical, right thing to do.
I posted yesterday about being asked to come to work at 8 pm and being called and messaged on LinkedIn to do so. I got pissed off and I wanted to shout at everyone, but just before the meeting I had a moment of clarity and I asked for a raise. They actually took me seriously. They told another person who is higher up than me that they could not afford to lose a single person. How do I squeeze them by the balls and get the most I can? I wanted 50%, but I'm not sure how feasible it would be in Big 4 without a promotion. I am definitely not paid enough for what I do and I strongly believe I deserve more. Wat do? Also I've only been with the company for like half a year lmao
>coworker (guess the ethnicity) used to be annoyingly vocal about how the president is doing a great job >he completely shut himself in the cubicle in the past week >i wonder what happened >turns out he's livid about the h1b fees lol i guess supporting political causes against your own interests is a global phenomenon and not just an american one

Question... back in 2021 I was taking some coolege college courses for a 'Associate of Science Degree in Cyber Defense'. I fell off school after my wife gave birth and also because at the time my last required class was a bullshit elective requirement like bio or something that I didnt want to do. Today after applying to some jobs and one getting back to me asking for proof of education I rechecked the Program and now the only required class I have left to take is a intro to Python. Would it be worth my time to take this 3 unit class and get this associates degree? Would it be valued? I current do Tech Support but want to move on to a bigger and better role. I have no certs. Have 2.5 years experience with troubleshooting software, communication problems and hardware problems with a product my company manufactures. Doing with software glitches for our products, create user names and accounts, set user levels like admin, etc. Configure and troubleshoot wireless antennas, cell modems, work a lot with ipv4 and sometimes DHCP, and lastly hardware is mostly just power supplies, and shit. Or replacement of new embedded controllers with windows installed and setting those up, preforming software updates, etc. It's a damn call center environment. Phones always ringing, emails assigned, live chat... I just want a normal IT job that isn't so damn stressful

Tell people to plan separate meetings for discussing specific issues. Hint: they will never plan those meetings.
