>dropped out of computer science>dropped out of electrical engineeringI am just not a tech guy. I am now 26 and have been working at a grocery store for a year trying to figure out what I want to do.I liked college, I liked learning and hitting the books, I like maths and structure but I absolutely despise technology. I hate C programming, I hate electronics, I hate Databases, I hate artifical intelligence, I hate electrical stuff and I absolutely despised the 80% of nerds that are in these fields. So what do I do?
doesn't really matter, job market is fucked

>working at a grocery storeyou have a job and are already better than mebut really, shit's been fucked all over for a while nowbefore this AI retardation, tech was all about "Web 3.0", NFTs and exit scam retardation
>>106696150Mathematics and then specialize in nuclearChem fags are less autistic than physics fags and you still have mathheads if you want autists. >t. Mechanical engineering studentAlso >Tech to cool down turbines Mitsubishi uses a 1650°C fluid to run their nuclear turbines but unless i use Rene N5, the incelnel either melts or yields due to thermal pressure. Japs didn't just use material science and half ass the film cooling and ceramics did they? Since they should be able to go higher temp if they did use Rene, it would be inefficient desu. So far i've seen>Film cooling>Effusion cooling>Convection cooling>Ceramics>Running it so that it specifically deforms less and you can lower cleaence between the wall and yhe the turbine blades >Fucking nuclear physics like phonon engineering so they blast heat to the air without somehow explaing>Somehow built in seebeck generatorIn the realm of pure fantasy:>Pumping heat to the blade atoms and then quantum tunnelling them away from the super heated zone, with another channel constantly replacing with equal amount of new, cold materialWould this destroy the crystal structure though?
medicine is recession proof and guarantees you upper middle class income. its even in such demand they are lowering requirements.pay attention to the world around you. the average age in america in 1970 was like 28 years old. its now 44. most of the population is retired or on welfare. the reason why they brought over infinity immigrants is because boomers are about to retire and require insane amounts of healthcare.i sometimes wish i had done medicine instead of cs even though i am employed

My idea would be to look into economics, business or accounting but how would I know if I actually like these? With tech it's so easy, just buy the C programming book, study it, do the exercises, build a small project and you see if you like it or not. Or you buy "The Art of Electronics" and then tinker with some circuits. But how do you know if you like accounting? Or business?

I studied international relations / trade / development in the early 2000s which then nobody cared about because trade was free the world was by and large peaceful and things only seemed to be going in that direction, so I never used the degree at all. If it'd kept on top of that subject now its obviously VERY in demand but too late oh well. You can't time the market don't even try.
Civil engineering maybe? If you haven't figured out what you want yet, pick something you think seems least shit.
>>106696848you dont know so you need to find out champ, it sounds like the grocery store is a good fit for you
>>106696830it depends on your state but nursing is like literally 1 year of online courses and 1 year of clinicals to make >70k start where i live. ymmv. the older and shittier your state is the more you start out at. you need a degree and theyre not hard courses really. ive taken some of them and theyre nowhere near a comp sci difficulty course. its community college work bro and even the RN stuff is online uni work.clinicals are probably NOT fun but you stocking shelves at walmart isnt going to be fun either.>>106696848yeah every terminally online nerd says and thinks this. im telling you right now just grow out of that in your early 20s and save yourself some time. intentionally hindering your development is something you will regret.also lol @ economics and business. these were bad degrees even 10 years ago in a much better economy. with econ i had an instructor in college who had an econ degree and lucked his way into IT.seriously if anyone here is considering IT or any sort of tech work, get with reality. you are not getting a job unless congress sends home all the immigrants (40% of software engineers in the US are immigrants right now) or you know somebody. in very rare cases you could build something and someone might be impressed enough to hire you. chances are you arre not that rare case.this market sucks even if you have multiple years of exp in anything.there are easier ways to earn a middle class income than getting into tech right now lol. its incredibly stressful at times. all work is but imagine that your job necessitates a clear mind free of stress to do anything at all.dont know why i bothered writing this who gives a fuck. people rarely listen to advice that coutneracts their plans anyway. tech is a bloodbath right now and every guy thats used a computer under 30 has decided to do it. i even had a fucking literal granny in one of my upper level cs courses.
>>106696953>@ economics and business. these were bad degrees even 10 years agoWhat about accounting? I like maths and working with structure.

>>106696830>>106696953oh yeah to elaborate, there are jobs that you can do with very minimal training in healthcare but they dont pay well. like you can become a phlebotomist with 4 weeks of courses but it pays min wage. where i live radioimaging and nursing are the big ones that guarantee decent living in this new england shithole. look stuff up for your area, its probably not much different.>>106696986dont know. you gotta research whats ACTUALLY in demand. the bureau for labor statistics did not predict the 2020s at all with tech.basically for your area you probabl want to look at some news articles, wages, published statements by gov depts for your state about what skilled jobs are in demand where you live.its very tough because the econ is in such shit and most everything that isnt in insane demand requires that you know somebody who will hire you. theres almost nothing that beats out this truth in life. people are going to hire family, friends, friends of friends, alumni, and then at the very last rung of that they might consider cold apps. theyll take even unskilled people that they know over someone mildly more qualified.naturally take what i said with a grain of salt, im just some guy that graduated during 2008 recession and only recently lucked out on not being in perma poverty for once in my life. you really have to be an active, clever person trying to figure out how to earn a living in this shit ass boomer ruined economy though. do not just blindly do what people say.
>>106697052>>106696986oh yeah and look at what big companies are in your area, what your local economy looks like, etc..
