why don't you buy youtube premium?
>>
No need! I have ublock
>>
>>106697569
I thank all the paycucks and no-adblock cucks for their service, so that I can use youtube free and ad free.
>>
>>106697593
Brainrot isn't exactly free, dingus.
>>
>>106697569
I unironically pay for youtube premium
>>
>>106697569
If that would lead them to not collect my data constantly I wouldn't mind, sadly that isn't the case
>>
>>106697569
I don't watch on youtube.
I check my subscribed channels list for new videos, and then download the videos to my PC before watching. Ublock handles any ads on the site.
I don't watch on the phone becase that's a horrible experience.
>>
>>106697569
I do pay family subscription for me, my parents and my sister. While they use uBlock Origin on PC, they still have their phones with the official youtube app and using third party apps is a hassle because they need to update often and I'm not often around to do that.
Same with Office/OneDrive, which was a hassle, even though now I am considering moving to Nextcloud because it is stable enough now.
>>
>>106697569
Why don't you go to reddit?
>>
>>106697666
Can't just use youtube on their phone browsers? The adblock works just fine.

if they gave you access to original untouched videos, I would
everyone knows they intentionally re-encode everything every couple of years, and now are introducing artifacts with AI ""enhancements"", even on paid/partnered/monetized channels

for how cancerous nicovideo's "timeshift" model is, I'd get something from that

I do. I've been subbed for like almost a decade at this point probably.

I cannot comprehend gen z's insufferable bitching about paying for youtube. It's like the only service I even pay for at this point and it's cheaper than anything I paid for in the past. Like, my cable bill (back when that was the only option) was like $80 for the bare minimum back in the day iirc.

Not to mention you get youtube music for free which is fantastic. I would be paying for that individually if it wasn't included. Although I do miss google music and my original library being uploaded. I still have access to it but its crazy we can't still upload. I don't download music anymore because it's not 2008 or earlier but it's still nice for some things like my own recordings.
>>
No thanks, I'll take my tiny little adblock win against the megagiant google.
>>

>>
>>106697569
>why don't you buy youtube premium?

I would not mind paying to view content. Sadly even if I pay them i can't get privacy. Even if I pay for yt premium my browsing and viewing habbits will be mined, recorded and used to target ads to me and try to sell me shit.

Even if it's stuff I need, they will use the data to do price fixing, and try to squeeze the most money as possible out of me.

The fuck I am not going to pay for that..
>>
>>106697569
you don't need more.
>>
>>106697908
and? Why do people care so much about their browsing data? Are you really so susceptible to ads? Every time I see an ad I never think afterwards "welp better go buy that they convinced me!" Do you have no self control? Sounds like a personal problem.
>>
>>106697622
I've considered it because I use YouTube more than anything besides Torrents, but then they pulled all their anti-ublock shit so now I don't care and kind of hope the whole site collapses. I subbed to AMC Movie Pass instead.
>>
>>106697727
Damn, he doesn't know

Yeah they should just let people steal from them. Zoomers are so stupid
>>
I pay for youtube premium because I watch on PS5 a lot.
If I watched only on my pc then I'd use ublock like everyone else.

I cut down on all my subscriptions a while back keeping only the essential, I kept youtube, my 3$ debrid subscription and 5$ vps.
15$ a month is nothing considering how much I use it also saves me a spotify subscription, even though ytm is a far shittier product.

...i'm not crying? Shit costs money to run. Pirating has always been a fight, getting upset at companies for fighting back is retarded. Like every time I see someone crying about Nintendo or anything else you just sound like spoiled children. I pirate when shit is complicated or fucked to buy/use (like streaming right now is fucked so a plex server makes sense) if the service works flawlessly and is appropriately priced I'm not a poor third worlder who needs to keep stealing.

I swapped from plex to stremio when I found out about it, can recommend if you don't care about having all your media downloaded.

Jewtubers censorship. I used to have it but the shadow banning got crazy so i stopped. Ironically it's what lead me hete and turned me into a racist

They charge too much, probably due to trying to bundle other shit with it. I would if it was $5 a month but for the current price I'm fine using firefox + UBO

I bet every person in this thread bitching about paying for premium uses services like doordash and uber which makes me go pic rel. I use YT for a large portion of my enterainment every month both in video form and music form. The family plan is cheap and easy as well so my gf, sister, and dad can use it to for like $20 or whatever easy no brainer.
>>
>>106697569
I watch like 1-2 videos a day with my husband.
Not really using it enough to justify that when most videos are 15-20 minutes long

Yeah its crazy cheap for what you get. Unlimited video content and unlimited music with a much bigger song library than spotify and apple music combined
>>
>>106699143

Youtube Premium might be worth buying if it actually blocked all ads in Youtube videos but unfortunately it only blocks the ads served by Youtube itself, no matter how much money I shovel towards Google this video will still be brought to you by Raid Shadow Legends

I mean, creators need to earn their money. It's not really a youtube problem.

>>
I was seriously considering getting it, even though I have all ads blocked all the time
then I thought imagine something will happen to the credit card charges or some shit and they'll disable my google account and I'll lose all my email
I'd rather not risk it
>>
>>106699799
...what?
>>
>>106699741
Yeah I trust you, I just use it on TV when friends are over.
I got a dolby atmos setup which ytm isn't really optimized for, I think it sounds pretty cool.
Would be fun to blind test them to see if it's just placebo.
>>
>>106697569
because ublock still works
>>
>>106699829
The noticeable difference just isn't worth the hassle for casual consumption. iirc there's a blind test website out there you can try yourself on. It's obviously when you get to lower bitrates but 320 is much harder to decipher.
>>
>>106697569

I know if I buy it I’m stuck with it. It’s the principal. Would rather deal with the ads honestly.

Because the complete lack of filters in videos (no specific dates, no search by language, no regex)
You cant block Shorts or entire channels of search.
Premium lack of Dearrow and Sponsorblock

There are people who just accept ads stealing their time.

btw, use adnausium (io), custom ad blocker that doesn't block ads, but hides them from you and clicks on every single one, so all ad providers get paid, and sends useless white noise to the algorithm that's watching you.

now the real guy i was thinking about paying for is fucking twitch. I just can't get rid of their ads, they're too fucking cancerous to block. idk what they do avoid all fucking adblocks in the whole planet but it's working
>>
>>106708821
Hello newfriend, welcome to /g/!

Both Brave and Firefox allow adblocking and listening to videos with the screen off on mobile. Brave has adblocking built-in, whereas Firefox lets you install addons. /g/ rightfully recommends uBlock Origin.

For Twitch ads you can add something called TwitchAds Solutions to uBlock Origin. You can find it on GitHub. It's easy to install if you follow the instructions on there.

Anything beyond 256kbps lossy is pointless in playback (different story when recording/mixing) if you understand how digital audio (and digital-analog conversion in general, not just for audio) works. But idiots pay through their nose for audio bullshit like nothing else. You think dogmatism is only for religious or political zealots, but then you find out the common denominator is just the stupidity of the average person even in 2025 (or 20025 for that matter).
>>

but thanks you're a real nigga for sharing the ublock thing, i just added the script for the low-res video while ads are running, i think they get the url for the low quality stream that goes on the top right and replace the ad container with that, that's neat if that's it
