how to take the light mode pill? I don't want to be a dark mode normie but it's hard
Just use what works for you.
Turn your screen brightness down.

>>106703908>How to take retard pill? I want to burn my eyes
>>106703908The real pill is gray mode.Early GUI people knew that gray (and slightly color-tinted gray) was comfortable.
>>106703908My eyes get tired reading on a black background. There are studies that show reading on a white background slightly improves reading speed compared to black backgrounds.
solarized light + blue light filter
>>106703908I use automatic mode.it get's light when it's bright outside and dark when it's dark outside
>>106704087Honestly I think there's nothing funnier than retards who think "blue light" is the reason they're sleeping poorly. You sleep like shit because you don't have a set bed time, and because you watch garbage on your phone in bed.
>>106704112>Honestly I think there's nothing funnier than retards who think "blue light" is the reason they're sleeping poorly.nothing to do with why i use it.reading text is just better with it.
>>106704112it just doesn't strain my eyes as much
>>106703908I'm a light mode user and that theme is just godawful. No wonder you're struggling.
i am red/green color blind so i struggle to use themes without extreme contrast. the colors blend together and then there is no point. for emacs i use this one that has purple keywords and dark everything else. i would want to use the built in modus theme but there is too much going on, and the color blind mode doesn't even change the base colors.
>>106703908Use rider saar
>>106703908Pic related
>>106703908Syntax highlighting just works better with dark mode.Bright colors are much easier to tell apart from each other, and from the background itself, when the background is dark. Thus, while there is less contrast between letters in general and the background, there is more contrast between colors. For normal text / reading, dark text on bright background is better.
>>106703908Why though? Next it'll be "oh, I just HAVE to use EMACS because I don't wanna be a pleb," and it's just really not worth it. The whole neovim/emacs master concept is dope but jfc the percentage of people who would actually be optimizing their workflow by removing a few additional seconds learning shortcuts beyond the basic character/word/line manipulation is comically small

>>10670390899% of light themes are garbage. You have to look for ones that have proper colours and don't just try to invert dark themes. Dark themes have much lower contrast because the colours are easier to see, but that doesn't work with light themes and they need deeper colours to make them readable. Fonts can also make a big difference.OP's pic is terrible (light pink and bright yellow/orange).This >>106704209 is kinda OK just because the colours are dark, but your font looks fuzzy. And solarised >>106704087 is the only common one that just werks if you like it because it balances the colours with a slightly darker background.
I am 42 and I simply never fell for the dark mode memeAlso I have godly 20/20 vision despite being at the computer for basically 12 hours a day since I was 14Feels good to be master race
People who care about the color scheme you use are useless
>>106705389it can legitimately improve legibility.ricers can get stuffed though, true
>>106703908Light mode as it exists in modern UI looks like utter shit. Dark mode is not great either, but its not as bad as light mode. I miss classic UI design that actually had contrast.
>>106703908I switched back to light mode because I just feel more alert and awake using it. Dark mode had me basically spending more time online but with less focus and then that lower focus slowly became the norm. If my eyes can't handle it then I just get off

>>106709829for me it gives me eye strain. if I use dark mode in a lit environment its like using light mode in a dark room. since i always use light mode though i always have some kind of back lighting illumination even at night so its not completely dark.
