Technically it would be possible to get the stream as it's going to be decoded but think of how much of a pain in the dick that is compared to just having the decryption keys. You need the audio too and it needs to sync. You would also need to make sure the app stays locked the fuck on and doesn't switch to a different resolution, bitrate, etc at any time during the process. It's so much better to just be able to get the key(s) so you can decrypt it.
