They’re even further ahead than macbooks compared the the alternative shitboxes with half the battery life and worse build quality and let’s not even mention arm laptops that aren’t apple. The only issue is that /g is poorfag central so nobody wants to pay 4x the street price for ram/storage upgrades and the base mini only has 256 gb (ram is now ok baseline). The beelink ser8 (8845HS) uses like 2-8w at idle. I have an old electrical system so I can't have multiple gaming computers running concurrently without tripping the breaker. I use mine to test my gpu code on a "modest" system so that I know it runs quickly. The only reason I would get a micro atx at this point is if you NEED a big boy gpu, and even that is detable with occulink + minipc or (eventually) thunderbolt 5.I used to be a life long pc builder but these days I think I'm just a mini pc slut

Minisforum u760 slimWith a 7640HS, more than enough for me. I doubled the ram to 32 gb.I don't play vidya.Low power draw and compact.
>>106727984I just don't have physical space for more than 1 standard ATX computer. I have a computer with the new strix halo cpu and it's faster than the 5950X in my desktop. I just don't need a mini-itx or micro atx computer anymore. When I was a gamer it made sense but everything I play is ~5 years old these days anyway. Mini pcs are good enough for 80% of people now.The other thing I like about them is that I can order one, reinstall windows. Then give it to my parents and they can have a modern system that just works. And they're inexpensive, sub $500 for something that will do everything instantaneously for them. Why have a tower when you can have a little box that does everything you need instead? I'm not saying fuck towers or they're bad I just think we've reached a point in computing where these are enough for me.

>>106726673>>106726679I'm using two Beelink machines right now. My gaming box is an EQR6 with a Ryzen 7 6800H, and my home server is an S12 Pro with an Intel N100. They've both been surprisingly reliable for the price, which combined was probably less than a single Mac Mini with half the specs of the Ryzen box.
>>106731589>>out yourself as a Guantanamo SpicWhat does this even mean? You realize they're trying to get legislation in so they can take passports from American citizens if they criticize Israel right?
I thought about one but it's hard to justify the cost compared to say buying a new GPU for an older computer, stashing it away and using a long display or USB cable.I don't even keep my main desktop computer in the same room as me, so noise & size hardly register when both my living room and bedroom are free of it. Would be nice if I lived in a small environ and had no need for GPU power but I got over my mini PC fetish back when the mac mini's with core solos released & outplaced my PPC one and the raspberry pi model B era.Micro-ATX in a decently small case is small enough, noise bothered me more and small devices, smaller fans and smaller sinks operate on a much more offensive register.Chipset & low idle are what I'd be wanting. If I were to buy a new one, I'd look at the M4 if it were arm but only for ARM's low idle power draw being about on par with keeping my device in standby, The tradeoffs in losing 48GB in RAM, 16GB in VRAM and being I presume stuck with a 256GB soldered SSD would be a major turnoff for the price, I'd need to see benchmarks comparing it to say a 6700k w/ an A770 or B580/B60 to really see if losing 16-48GB of just RAM and 16-24GB of VRAM would be a thing worth saving a couple liters of space in a cupboard.>>106726816>Enjoy having all your bank details and accounts stolen and everything you do saved. Not a problem in the first world, fscs can cover you up to about 85 grand, you should have your wealth tied up in assets.
>>106732207>What does this even mean? That is what we in the 4channel.gov department call a joke, you weren't supposed to take that jab to heart anon.>You realize they're trying to get legislation in so they can take passports from American citizens if they criticize Israel right? But on a more serious note yes that's a problem, I personally wouldn't even consider my opinion on Israel vs Palestine to even be all that controversial either since I'm just a boring two state solution fence sitter in that regard but clearly anything short of kissing the IDF's ass and or not criticizing Hamas an Hezbollah negativity enough could very well put me in that shit list too, never mind people who do have actual controversial opinions in a country that well is kinda supposed to have this thing called free speech but oh well Republicans and Democrats always like to forget about that when it's convenient. And that's why I lean more Independent/LoLbert now than I did prior, that Passport rug pull shit they're trying to make into law is after all a bi-partisan bill (like most shitty bills real people don't want).I like most anons here an no longer represented.
>>106726290Me buy big pc and then hide it under the desk. Now it smaller than mini pc.
>>106727062macbook pro's are generally reviewed with the m4 pro or m4 max CPU (relatively good CPU's), you could get a macbook pro for $1600 with the m4 stock, but for $400 more you get a m4 pro (+24gb ram) which is 2x better at some jobs (better cpu & gaming), and if you spend another $1200 you get a m4 max which is stronger as well (the pricing isn't very good because it forces you to get 36gb of ram and 1tb ssd). The cope is that it's the m4 Max is the best "AI" PC because you could spend another $1000 (total $4000) to get 128gb and nothing matches it in vram and performance, since the m4 max is similar to a 4070 (except the 98gb RTX PRO 6000 which is like 4x stronger and cheaper than you expect). And there is the m3 ultra which is closer to a 3090 / 5080 (m4 never got the ultra upgrade), and it never got into a macbook, only the mac studio. You could get a macbook mini PC for half the price of the macbook pro, still not worth it however, I think apple has an argument for being the best laptop, but the mini-pc just isn't that amazing.I used to shill the m4 mini-pc, but I always thought that you could run asahi linux on it, but nope, that's not possible (not even m3 works). The #1 reason I would want asahi is because it's a mini-pc, I don't care about battery life or the no HDR / fps being limited to 60hz (m1 still has issues). I would assume some people spend 90% of their time using a web browser, so if running a browser on asahi feels better than OSX, than you would use asahi, even if it ran worse or has less graphics. And it's a dual boot so it's easy to switch (You would game using osx crossover).I would suggest a basic ryzen mini-pc, don't get a $800 one, a basic 6 core cpu is fine. If you want gaming, just spend $800 and build your PC, a 5060 or RX 9060 will last a long time (you could use used parts or aliexpress however and get the price closer to $600, such as buying a weaker GPU like the 1660 super/TI for $100 or buying a 12100f+h610 on aliexpress).
