Had a recruiter tell me point blank that they don't consider contract work as experience. I tried to ask why but they ghosted me. Any anons care to give any insights? It is still doing work, gaining experience and even getting used to corporate culture.

I added pdfkeywords using the hyperref package on latex to a 1000 buzzwords of all the technical stuff I should know in any career I ever apply to.

Generally initially you will get an online assignment on like hackerrank or some other platform its literally just a test no human interaction.

On meets/zoom interviews people use transcribers even overlays etc since you only need to share like your coderpad screen not your entire desktop. Heck even old school methods was having someone else in your ear or straight up another person in the room with you.

I've given up on looking and have been building an ML startup while trading. I'm tracking my work with custom project management software I wrote years ago, keeping from getting sucked into social media with a custom browser extension, doing everything on Linux with nvim, have a ton of custom agentic self hosted AI tools.

Oh man I've been crazy productive today. I feel like I finally hit that point in the exponential growth curve where the convexity flattens back out and you're pointed straight up.

Pretty good - I'm leaving my current IT company for one I had worked for previously for the same position and pay but instead of a hour and 20 commute its 25 minutes. I handed my two weeks in after back to back 50-60 hour work weeks followed by thousands of miles being put on my car. I will go from on call every 3 weeks to on call every 3rd month for a week and it's a team of people at a large company that seems way more stable. I took a risk doing my current job to get a lot of experience to many facets of the field and I'm happy with where I'm going thankfully.

I know this thread isn't an IT thread but - everybody keep your heads up. Make applying to full time jobs your full time job - and don't give up. There's a light at the end of every tunnel even if it means digging ditches for a while. I started this new job a day after breaking up with my girlfriend of 4 years and on 3 hours of sleep to boot, and I wanted to kill myself some months but knew that the sacrifice was going to pay off in the end. This question is more practical than just autistic time complexity autism, because it gives the interviewer a chance to show off their language mastery.

The easiest and most efficient solution would be:

If you don't know the regex notation for your selected language this is a problem (and they're always confusing, this is the type of shit 99% of people will google)

Otherwise you would do something like:

How would it not be faster? If you use an array you would need to use one of the Array.includes(x) functions which is basically iterating over the array again, thereby adding another 26 (alpha) + 10 (numeric) iterations to go over per character

I did it. It's over. I finished the last test for intro to web dev. Now I just have to make the shopping cart use session storage and I'm done. I completed all 12 sophia college credit classes for my bscs (not including 9 khan academy math courses).
