I am considering coming back to Android because iOS 26 is the worst software update I have ever installed on any mobile device. I am completely disappointed in how bad it is, and I have been a DIE HARD Apple fan for a long time.

My last Android phone was the Pixel 3a. I would prefer Samsung, since Google seems incompetent.

What are the best options? My first thought would be the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Solid pick?

Foldables just aren't worth it until they figure out how to give them the same scratch protection as regular phones, only showing marks at a 6-7mohz. The fact you can permanently damage the screen with your fucking fingernail should turn any sane person off.
Then you also have the issue of the glaringly visible crease that appears after a few weeks of use, giving it a protruding hump right down the center.
They also aren't nearly as durable, especially to smaller particles like dust.

thinking of upgrading to new iphone. im torn between iphone 17 base and 17 pro max.
base 17 is perfect for me, only if it was 6.5 inch, therefore im considering going with pro max. bigger battery is nice to have, but so is saving couple of hundred bucks with base 17. i was thinking about air, but decided against it because of battery size and physical sim. 17 pro is also out of question because i see no benefit of it over base 17 for price difference.

where do i score cheap/free iphone charger cables?

iphones are small, fast and cheap ...except for oem charger cables.
the knock off iphone cables all stop working within 3weeks to 3months.
i used to pull iphone cables from the recylcing drop off at the entrance to best buy but they removed them years ago and my stockpile of iphone cables has run dry.

I've used an iPhone since 2007 since I never did anything but call/text and I would get them for free but I swapped to a Flip 6 last year and liked how small it was. I traded it in for a Flip 7 which ended up costing me $50 after the trade in and I bought a Fold 7 on Amazon to use as well. Foldable phones are pretty "QLZ" as the kids say but I still feel sketched out by the folding glass.
