I recently bought two monitors. I only wanted one but I'm picky about the aspect ratio and they came as a set. It turns out that spare monitors take up a lot of space and the best place to put it is my desk...I just don't know what to do with the spare. It's good for playing with HTML or whatever because I can keep the preview on a separate screen but other than that I have nothing to do with it aside from keep messages open. Is there a point? If it's staring at your wallpaper, I don't get it
I am an alt tab fiend. Your eyes can only look at one thing at a time
I have used 1x24 inch monitor, 1x22, 1x25, 1x27, 1x32, 1x42, 2x24.After using all these different sizes and setups I have to say that the most comfortable is 1 monitor from 23 to 25'5 inches. Everything smaller or bigger is crap. More than one monitor is useless.
perpetual background video playing on 1 monitor
>>106732816The second monitor is for subway surfers gameplay and family guy clips
if your job involves looking at two things side by side and comparing them it is useful, e.g. I am a doctor and sometimes want to compare two ECGs or imaging tests side by side and as big as possible. It’s nice to keep the electronic healthcare record open on one screen and put all other stuff on a second monitor so you don’t have to keep switching back and for the too. Three monitors is stupid tho, too much effort to get mouse from far right to far left.
>>106732816unless you are actually doing work you only really need a primary monitor (for whatever you want to see in full screen) and a secondary monitor to throw your discord/steam/music player/stack of file manager windows/password manager/second browser window/etc onI like having the second monitor be vertical for these purposes
>>106732816>video on one computer use on the other>computer use on one and computer use on the otherDepends on what you're doing
One screen for each workspace.1. primary work application2. file/project management3. communication (Teams, Mail etc.)** insert more purposes here **
>>106732816Try rotating one of them 90°Also I don’t have stuff on the secondary monitor all the timeAnd that’s fine
>>106732816Photoshop: larger screen for the image, the other for all the most used palettes.
>>106732821I love her so much
everyone is gonna give some fuckass answer tuned to their workflow (that is if they even have one).
>>106733477>fuckassyoure black
>>106732816one for alerts mail chats, video etcthe other for active work
>>106732816usually you have /gif/ and 177 ish tab at left irc email at rightsometimes image editor left image preview right
>>106732816I have 2 separate TVs that I found in the trash as extra monitors. The best and only real 2 uses they have is when I either need to have several programs, webpages and PDFs open at the same time while working or I want to play with my PlayStation2 or Wii. Apart from that, my 1920x1080 monitor is all that I need on a daily basis.
everyone who uses more than one monitor at home for non work is a turbo autist
>>106733477Yes, that is literally the purpose of having a modular personal computer, but 85% of people are too dumb to see that and think the one screen their computer came with is all they're ever supposed to use
>stop using your computer differently
>>106733866> everyone who has different preferences to mine is a turbo autistftfy
>>106732816>hourly poorfag cope thread: "non reddit terminal usecases frighten me" edition
>>106732978Kek, le zoomer setup
>>106732816i have 2 incase the first one turns off then i got a backup
Also good if you're into making music. One screen DAW, one virtual instruments, audio effects and so on.Editing video. Gathering info on one, putting that info to use on the other one in whatever application you're using.
>>106734412Me too. I have a spare backup benq 18" 720p monitor in my closet because the panel of my hp 27f decided to die randomly one month after the end of warranty.
I used a single monitor for around 10 years. For the last 3 years it was a big 4k monitor. Suddenly something happened around a year ago and I switched to 2 FHD monitors. I really have no use for the second one, either it is turned off while gaming ( to limit mouse movement ) or some random yt video is playing there while I do stuff. Even if I do file manager operations I still prefer 50/50 split on a single monitor.I think I will buy a 27 inch 2k screen and replace my current setup. Life was easier with a single display
>>106732816Two 16:10/5:4 monitors minimum, or one 21:9 monitor minimum. Preferably one 21:9 and one 16:10. One for work, one for reference. Half for code, half for terminals. Bonus monitor for MP3 library/Spotify/system monitor - whatever is relevant to the task at hand.
>>106732816Get a fucking job
>first monitor: goon material>second monitor: additional goon meterial
>>106732972thisand also, I use my second monitor to actually monitor several things that I'm hosting and running jobs on, while my main monitor is where my actual work gets done.
two monitors is terrible unless you stack em
>>106733866My gf has five monitors. Why? Because she can. When are worthless poors like you going to realise nobody wants, let alone needs, your equally-worthless approval?
>>106732816just get a monitor arm that holds both.
It's strange knowing I live in a world full of people unable to do more than a single simple task at a time.
two monitors is absolute dog shit, add me to the list of people who did it and said afterwards, never again
shitpost on /v/ and /g/ at the same time
>>106732821you have 2 eyes bud
>>106732816I have a 2nd/3rd monitor for different uses. 2nd monitor is a crt, 3rd is a small one for kid stuff i dont use more than 1 at a time because i'm not autistic
>>106732816Streaming on OBS on one screen and looking at chat.
>>106732816> whyBecause some people actually work with computers, and you don't. You're like a person desperate to have something to talk about, but never do. You desire greatly to be an important person who has a purpose for his second monitor. But you never will.
>>106732816I have two monitors because I have two computersWork laptop, my PC, USB switching hub to change which one my mouse and keyboard and connected toSuper comfy
>>106732816I prefer using a single monitor over a multi-monitor setup, but with the use of multiple workspaces / virtual desktops to switch between different window configurations. And when I need something occasionally side-by-side, tiling and stacking windows is more than enough.
2 monitors. 2 computers. 1 linux and 1 mac linked with barriers. i get the best of both worlds.
>>106732816Obviously depends on what you do.I can't even imagine doing webscraping with a single monitor. Sounds like hell unless you have a huge one where a single quadrant is equivalent to a 1080p monitor or similar.
>>106732816Main monitor for all the usual tasks, second monitor for ancillary things you want to keep an eye on.Chat programs, documentation, screen recorder, audio player, task manager/resource monitor, actively running scripts, etc. All these live on my second monitor so I can check them with a glance, without interfering with whatever's on my main monitor.
i like porn and two monitors is twice as much porn
>for work>one screen for pcb design>another for schematics>a third with excel or web browser with 50 tabs open, or code>for play>youtube and vidya
>>106732816Why is Windows so fucking buggy when it comes to dual monitor setups? Had issues on 7 and 10 with a second monitor where it would black out randomly, have audio sync issues, and other shit and none of the fixes I tried worked so I just went back to a single monitor. Now that I have 11 I tried to run an HDMI cable to my TV to use it for couch gaming occasionally, and the same shit happens and the only thing I found online was "yeah windows sucks for dual monitors lmaoooooo".
I have two monitors. I hate it.
