Probably the thinking went that you want to protect the battery from damage, even minor impacts on a LiPo can severely degrade it over time, so having metal on the outside was a way to prevent. Too bad the designers, or more likely marketing, were hell bent on making it single piece, or I bet engineers would have added a proper failsafe for the battery.

Drilling into the ring to put the stupid biometric crap through would be too much effort, so it's much easier to design it comically wrong on purpose to have all the soft expanding parts in the center, and a nice hard shell on the outside to make your finger the weak point.

Hey, at least it's only like a 20mAh battery so there was no risk of it exploding. Unreal that someone would pay 400 bucks for this.

Normal rings can be bent with pliers
Except stainless steel rings, you need to open them with a grinder before you lose your finger
Having a battery on that is just asking for trouble, can't bend or it explodes, can't cut or it explodes, can't expose it to the sun or it explodes, can't wash it or it explodes

He's about to board a flight. But getting on a flight with a battery that is about to explode is literally criminal. Just accept you're not going to make your flight, find emergency services in the airport, get a later flight. Embarrass Samsung on twitter so they reimburse you for your flight.

>>106739541

I've been adding some interactive health features to apps and the amount of data you can pull from wearables or even your phones is pretty nuts.
This site for example adds an entire behavioural layer to the data so they can categorise people's sleep patterns and activity levels;
https://sahha.ai/
It's pretty cheap to being at most 10c per user a month.
Even if they don't get to see it but opt into the health data it would allow me to get more user info. I'm planning to integrate it into an AI assistant system.

"Tech" was great back in the day. Picture growing up in the 90s, it was like Tech could only get better and better.

All tech nowadays is a cheap knockoff of what are otherwise cyperpunk Ideas from the 90s. This Cyberbunk gets sold at premium prices to the Millennials who remember the 90's tech boom and still think we're in the midst of good products being made by intelligent engineers instead of Poojeets throwing whatever TEMU chinese board they can fit into ordinary objects that didn't need them. Like Rings for instance.

Go to the flight desk, ask to have you're flight rebooked and for medical assistance. Might ask any local resturant for some cooking oil and lube up the finger.
WTF is the thing for anyways?

The difference between then and now is agency.

Then tech was a tool users used to project their will on the world.

Now tech is a tool corporations use to collocate their software and ideas in user's lives.

The problem is that we let retarded TV watching consumers in. They love being slaves and hate agency. Agency comes with decisions and responsibility and they can't stand that. People bitch about the partition between the bourgeoisie and proletariat but it's intrinsic, not circumstantial. Proletarians love who they are and do not want to change.

Irrelevant because every phone has a USB-C port and you can plug 3.5mm dongle into one.

Explain this to me, a neanderthal who wears a $20 Timex and still thinks Indiglo is pretty cool. Isn't the point of a smart watch that it does phone shit without taking the phone out? So you take away the part that does phone shit and now it... just poorly tracks your blood pressure or something?

Why?

how the fuck do you not notice your ring bloating up?
it's not like those things happen instantaneously, it takes days (usually weeks) for it to become so bad

>Isn't the point of a smart watch that it does phone shit without taking the phone out?
Smartwatch is essentially a bunch of sensors that also shows time. Most of the value is in tracking fitness shit, then a smattering of things like notifications etc
you can't really do many smartphone things on a smartwatch

if they do I adjust the length, though last time I had to do it was more than a year ago.

not at all, it's a very thin metal hollow on the inside so it adjusts to body heat in any weather.

nta but I used adb to completely disable all the health and fitness shit and use watch not just for calls, notifications and quick replies, but also maps and navigation, music streaming, contactless payments using sideloaded bank app and public transport pass.
some days I just don't use my phone at all.

Serves you right for buying gookshit. This is the same type of person to buy a fucking ioniq5 EV and then complain about needing to pay $60,000 to take it to the dealership so the fuckheads can replace a $170 component. Gookshit is nothing but overpriced unintuitive chinkshit with a shiny veneer.

I own an instinct solar2x.
I use it for nav and marking points.
Its got a compass and stuff built in and i can do target heartrate for exercise.
Why it needs to connect to a phone is beyond me. But the functionality if the solar instinct watches is awesome.
Standalone units should come first and foremost. Casio did it right with their units as well. Otherwise i 100% agree with this post

So Lucifer, what kind of battery accident on a smart ring would cause one to lose a finger. You know for demonic reasons
