the premise of webp is mentally retarded

It's yet another episode of OP, the shit-for-brains-fucktard, complaining about something he does not understand.

It's only a real problem in displays below 100 PPI. A modern day 1440p 27 inch display achieves about 109 PPI. Phone/tablet displays achieve even higher PPI than that. The hatred for chroma sub sampling is a big meme desu at least today.

This. At least most browsers can display webp. Cuckflare only runs on cuckflare approved browsers.

While it would be nice for all lossy images on the web to be archival quality, it's just not the kind of bandwidth most websites can afford. While it's technically true that WebP doesn't save much on filesize when targeting DMOS scores that cause most people to fail to differentiate between the original and lossy image, it still ends up saving a massive amount of bandwidth for the web for DMOS scores between 3 and 4.

Crazy right? Websites don't run on god magic or pixie dust but there's real human beings that have to pay bills so the website stays up.
