I use both Windows 11 and Windows 7 at work. Windows 11 on my work laptop, Windows 7 (32-bit) on a bunch of older machines running a software PLC on a closed intranet. The work laptop has much better hardware specs than the 7 machines. More memory, SSDs instead of HDDs, faster CPU, more cores, etc.

Somehow, my work laptop running Windows 11 moves like fucking molasses compared to the ancient Windows 7 machines. Explorer takes fifteen fucking seconds to open, for example. Why the fuck is that? You can't say it's hardware differences when the older weaker hardware runs so much faster!

Hell, I have an old XP machine we use for programming FPGAs and IT RUNS FASTER THAN THE FUCKING WINDOWS 11 LAPTOP.

Why is modern software SO FUCKING GARBAGE?

My condolences.

>windows XP as a comparison

do note that Windows XP is 32-bits which is faster than 64-bits because it does so much less of stuff

same should be true for Windows 7, 32-bit

did you ever try Windows 10 in 32-bit form?
it was cancelled in 2018 and I didnt try it but perhaps it performs faster than 64-bit Windows 10

It's fairly garbage (Think & Do) but it's nowhere near as frustrating to deal with as Windows 11.

install 7, redfox/supermium, vxkex and a good av
done
also use inspectre to disable mitigations

only thing i can think of fast is to go to explorer options and make sure you don't have "show files from Office.com" enabled and setting it open to "This PC" instead of "Home".

It's winbloat 11, no one wants that trash

>so much microsoft spyware going on in win 11 that it slows the entire system down

win11 basically is an old school trojan that is keylogging you 24/7, hitting print screen 24/7 (unironically why win11 removed the print screen feature, because the os itself is filling up your clipboard with temp files), and streaming a video recording of your computer to microjeets. Its not a meme. The always online ai features are constantly tracking and recording and reporting on you. Win defender is constantly scanning your hd and for bad hashes and checking them with a blacklist, and photodna is constantly checking hashes of your photos and video files to make sure they arent cp while uploading what it does find to a sql file and sending it to the government. theres so many things going on in the background that the os has reached a saturation point where you cant help but notice things are slower than they should be. ontop of that, you have the CEF in edge doing all that but for both microsoft and google. Constantly checking your system specs, and sharing them with data brokers and 'trusted partners'.

the os is a scam, which makes sense since it was made by indians.

PLCs are the one (singular (1)) thing that is more obnoxious to deal with than w*ndows

This removes the bloatware and makes it usable. It's still shit but if you need Windows it's the best option.

Wirth's Law; software gets slower faster than hardware is getting better. Software has become increasingily complex and developers are becoming increasingly lazy.
