HERES UR """DEBLOATED"" WINBLOWS 10 BRO
SENDING CONNECTIONS TO MICROSOFT EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU OPEN A FILE ON YOUR COMPUTER

https://sizeof.cat/post/windows-telemetry/

>Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 (what nu-/g/ shills): 20 connections
>Windows Server 2019 (what 2022-nu/g/ shilled): 32 connections
>Windows 7 Professional: 1 connection

>usecase for respecting privacy?
Enjoy sending telemetry to Microsoft only for your OS to get worse every time a new release comes out.
10 users are in the same bus as 7 users. Might as well downgrade to 7 once everything magically stops working on 10 despite working in the same environment prior, amirite?
10 does not magically become a privacy respecting, optimized OS after support is dropped. It is still a frankenstein combination of old native code and XAML bullshit among whatever other "frameworks" Microsoft plops onto their OSes now.

You've been doing the same exact thing with your computer you were doing a decade ago. Why upgrade if you aren't invested in AAA gayming?

nta but if you seriously still use windows after checking out regedit's Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FeatureUsage\ and all the subfolders. you are cattle. this is in all windows versions btw, even iotranny edition. trying to look anything up about it only brings up forensic articles, enjoy your manmade horror OS..
>>
I'm seriously considering going back to W7. I don't play anything made past 2015 son I could use W7 exclusively for games and dual boot Ubuntu or Mint for web browsing and anything that requires internet and some level of safety.
>>
Haven't done it myself, but why not direct the effort of downgrading to Windows 7 into trying Linux Mint instead? Only things I'd miss I think are all my games working and MS Office programs. Though I'm aware of open source and/or web versions of those.

Can't wait to switch to linux as my daily driver. I'm so tired of this bullshit. Gonna ditch PC gaming at all and stick with the consoles I guess - games are the only pin left still holding me.
>>
>>106770810
>You've been doing the same exact thing with your computer you were doing a decade ago. Why upgrade if you aren't invested in AAA gayming?
I don't go hard on AAA gaming but steam and DX12 not being available for W7 (at the time) was exactly the reason I switched to W10, yes. I don't know what progress has been made on that front but I'm not inclined to toy around with third party support for DX12 and video drivers like it was a linux system.
I applied a couple of the debloating processes but the main thing I did was turn off updates. I'm under no illusion that it is "clean" from a corpo surveillance perspective, just that I can control updates.
When they pull this shit again in 5 years and gaming moves on to DX13 or DX15 or whatever only being supported on W11, I might go back to W7 or tinker W10 like it was linux, it depends on how much control I'm permitted to have with W11 by then.

Run privacy.sexy, win10debloater powershell, oosu10, windowsspublocker, and add as much as you can onto the hostfile, optionally use portmaster too. I want to see your test results, cause I got close with wireshark and fiddler monitoring.

So far shit like windows updates, checkappexec, edgesuite, and some of those are the more common lingerers on a strict application on my latest test with wireshark. I cannot tell however if any dats is actually being sent through to these connections even if they are being made, or if they get blocked.

I've been wanting to switch to Mint as my daily driver and ditch FAGMAN services and social media at the very least, and compartmentalize Windows to a gaming-only installation or drive with social media. Not much that I can do about my past from when I was underage, but at the very least I can stop feeding new info. Even just signing in to old Gmail or Microsoft accounts annoys me with paranoia now, online or thunderbird login regardless.

privacy does not exist anymore. almost everything is tracked and permanently stored. and everything else will be able to be reconstructed via ai in a few years. yes, there will come a day when ai can correctly assign 4chan posts to the people who made them and read your mind. in a few years even the privacy of your thoughts will disappear and any wrong think will be automatically detected and reported

>Is there any proof that web pages on browsers can peer into your system that deep
Websites can do whatever Javascript let's them do. They can't directly see what your pc is doing, they can gather info to uniquely identify you and track what you do on the internet though. Iirc Facebook used to, or still does, offer some "repost this in Facebook", or login with fb, or whatever, which website owners added to their sites and this let fb track which sites you visited through pings, basically. That's just an example but you get the idea.
An OS has some rich info to gather from its users that wouldn't be accessible otherwise.

Microsoft will be dead in 10 years. They’re falling behind in the compiler space, and that’s not some small niche — it’s the foundation of all software development. MSVC can’t compete against Clang or GCC anymore. Clang has become the darling of modern C++ developers, setting the standard for diagnostics, tooling, and even integration into IDEs. GCC is still the rock-solid workhorse that dominates Linux and server infrastructure. And then there’s MSVC, lagging years behind, full of quirks, still carrying ancient baggage, and requiring Microsoft-only extensions that make portability a nightmare.

The scary part for Microsoft is that the compiler ecosystem isn’t just about compilers. It drives the future of operating systems, mobile platforms, embedded devices, game engines, and literally every field where code gets executed. By losing the compiler race, Microsoft is losing influence over the very direction of programming. They’re forced to play catch-up while the LLVM ecosystem is expanding into everything from GPU programming to AI tooling. Developers don’t want to be shackled to Visual Studio anymore when they can get faster builds, better diagnostics, and cross-platform flexibility elsewhere.

Sure, Microsoft still has Windows, Office, and Azure, but even those pillars are eroding. Windows is increasingly irrelevant outside of gaming. Office is being eaten away by browser-based solutions and open alternatives. Azure only grows because enterprises are slow to move — but developers, startups, and new tech are flocking to open-source-friendly ecosystems like Linux on AWS or Google Cloud. Meanwhile, Microsoft is burning goodwill with developers by pushing bloat, telemetry, and lock-in rather than innovation.

So yeah, 10 years. Maybe even less. Once developers fully abandon MSVC and Visual Studio for Clang, GCC, and LLVM-based toolchains, the remaining pillars of Microsoft’s empire will look a lot shakier than they do today.

It's both funny and sad how every single person lets out an exasperated sigh and scratches it's head whenever msvc gets mentioned. Shit fucking sucks.
