I needed to replace my dad plasma TV all he watches on it is sports and I was disgusted that every single modern TV looked worse than the 10 year old plasma. They had sports playing on them and the ball would be doing that judder shit on every single display or just like blurry shit. I just found a guy to fix the power supply on it and it'll go another 10 years.

A lot of the tvs have a lot of postprocessing enabled by default that may make things look better for boomer content but the fast action stuff looks like shit. Just crank up the sharpness setting, and turn off noise reduction, smooth gradiation, and trumotion/motion smoothing.
>>
>>106772432
You need to use the right settings. Turn off the power saving and motion smoothing/clarity puke, then turn on Real Cinema if you have a 120hz panel to remove 2:3 pulldown. It should then look like a PC monitor with normal motion.

i remember playing demon souls on my giant plasma tv and the bonfire looked insanely crisp.

Plasma is a dead end tech just like sed, Panasonic was the last company making good quality plasma screens and that ended ages ago.
>>
>>106772499
That's probably some crap LG plasma.

The Pioneer Kuro and high and Panasonics (G10 and higher) have basically nearly as much brightness as OLEDs.

>>106772608
Plasmas look better in motion than PC monitors too though. LCDs are just garbage at it. I'm hoping that microLED will finally take us out of the dark fucking ages of display technology we've been sitting in for the past 20 years.
Or I might just get a proper stand and screen mat for my projector.

It has image retention, if you play the same game for a week and then play something else for a week, the first games HUD will no longer be there. Only really annoying if you forget that it can happen. OLEDs are worse in that regard.
But they are TVs, not monitors, so not as suitable for productivity.

>heats up your room
That's actually beneficial in fucking October, and during summer I have the AC on anyway.

>consumes a million watts
Any modern videocard would use more power, unless you have some 60 inch Kuro, and in that case you'd give no fucks because it's still the best TV around.
>>
>>106773270
projectors are LCDs, dummy
>>
>>106773298
Yeah but with a 100" projected screen to watch movies on, I really wouldn't give a fuck. I wouldn't be running it to use SSH on.

Nope it's the panasonic ZT65

>Plasma TV
>Mogs your OLED in motion clarity
No it doesn't
Not all Plasma TVs were created equal, plenty had worse motion clarity

OLED monitors can now do ~500hz btw
On Retroarch with CRT Beam Simulator you get way better motion clarity than Plasma for 60hz if you're using a high refresh rate OLED(480hz for example).

>Plasmas look better in motion than PC monitors too though
No they don't
High end 480hz OLED smokes 60hz Plasma

This is really cool. Wish I had a higher framerate display to play with it on. The endgame is probably microled with this tech built in

Oh no, my TV costs <3ยข/h when it's on! How will I ever feed my family!

At least it doesn't come with smart tv cancer for most.

Ain't no way you can accurately simulate the absurd speed of a CRT beam at only 500hz

https://blurbusters.com/crt-simulation-in-a-gpu-shader-looks-better-than-bfi/
they do it a few dozen to a few hundred lines per frame (a 1080p display needs to be 1080hz to do it right) but the effect is good enough as it is and it looks like diminishing returns hit hard
Real-time simulation of 60 Hz CRT for your 120 Hz display (up to 50% blur reduction)
Real-time simulation of 60 Hz CRT for your 240 Hz display (up to 75% blur reduction)
Real-time simulation of 60 Hz CRT for your 480 Hz display (up to 87.5% blur reduction)
