im 32, im old, but i kind of just like doing this shit in my free time. understanding the infrastucre, hardware, its cool. is this a kind of thing thats going to stay a niche hobby or is there a shot you can still make it viable? is a thing where you have to be a fullstack ideas/infrastucture guy now?im talking about the threat of boilerplate ai code and 3rd worlders of course

>>106773518it probably won't be as highly paid as it has been in the past but i think it'll stick around. imo the main reason why things are so fucked up in the job market is because the economy is more or less confused. everyone is in debt, but stonks are soaring, but purchasing power is also plummeting. there are currently a bunch of bubbles and different debt crises going on, which will inevitably mess things up when they come undone. this makes it a very bad time to hire because no one knows what's really worth working towards.i actually don't think we will retvrn to monke and only hire plumbers and HVAC installers going forward, i think those are just the only jobs we KNOW will remain after all the on-going bubbles finally burst. eventually things will hopefully reset a bit and we'll start giving people "funny jobs" again, because we will want to continue our trend from the 19th century where we make up jobs to prevent social instability
