There is a reasonable basis on which to presume robots lack a similar capacity for thought and reasoning as humans, and thus even if given rights, would not exercise them. We’re a long way from having anything that is remotely sapient, so at this point this shit is like saying “you have to ask your pencil sharpener for consent”, and then having the pencil sharpener have a consent button that always says yes.
