So this has been ongoing for a while now, and for a time, the British government tried to order Apple to keep it a secret. Timeline of event
>The UK attempted to strongarm Apple to install a backdoor to allow the UK's full access to every iPhone user's data by sending an executive order that also explicitly forbid Apple from revealing the news to outsider at threat of becoming enemy to the state
>This doesn't work because officially Apple the company didn't reveal anything, but somehow information about the order "leak" to various third party
>Apple remove all encryption for every service in the UK, allowing anyone to do whatever with all the information in the UK, in an attempt to comply without risking themselves
>The US persuaded the UK to back down from their attack on Apple because the previous demand also involves installing a UK backdoor in all US apple service
And now
>The UK second attempt in asking for a backdoor to all Apple device data, but this time, is limited only to devices in the UK to not step on other government toes
>Apple denies they have the capabilities to install such backdoor

Snowden told us all phone activity is being logged 15 years ago and had been going on for longer, imagine thinking Apple arent under instruction to give the US Govt what they want
Tim Cook can lie directly to your face about iphones being private knowing full well you wont be able to ever prove them handing over your data if the glowies demand it

notice they don't ask google, microsoft etc because they give all your data on demand

is this why fbi has to send iphones to some israel company that can unlock some iphones?

I mean, Apple already removed all encryption for iPhones in the UK, if the Brit has any good hacker they can do what they want. The only thing this does is make it even more accessible to the dumbest Anglos cop stereotypes. It reeks of crony bureaucracy

Blackberry used to say the same thing. As someone who developed third party apps for Blackberry devices back then, dealing with device security was a huge pain in the ass but the end-to-end encryption required those extra steps. RIM swore up and down that even they could not access user data. Then one day during a color revolution, suddenly they could. Never got an explanation. It just magically changed one day.

A lot of this could be parallel reconstruction. This is when you have found the truth by covert means, but have to come up with some other way of getting there that you'd actually admit in a court room.

B-bros? Chat? @grok? Is this real? Can software be changed in updates to backdoor users?!
I'm not mocking you by the way, i actually agree with you.

it's the UK kek. bit late to be worrying about pedos

The idea is to remove the encryption on the server i.e not be end-to-end encrypted. That's what the UK government wants, so nobody can sniff it on the wire but they can still get special access to it.
So far Apple has relented and I can't say I blame them but they will probably fold eventually if the government pushes it's fingers far enough and attempts to ban or block the sale of iPhones until Apple meets their demands.
