NeoOP sent to reeducation camp edition

Everything is already from China, but here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.
1st rule of /csg/: If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

genuinely surprised.
anyway, for all the flashlight autists, i got that FC11C flashlight that's been mentioned a lot.
honestly, can't find a complaint.
solid construction for both the body and the button, got all the bells and whistles like a lanyard and a hook, magnetic cap.

also not pictured, a hollow knight keychain and pin.
half expected them to be plastic/have shitty paint or something, since they were like 1 buck each but they're both metal and the paint is nice and solid

also, since i'm not a flashlight autist myself, if anyone is looking for a coupon for their store let me know, i got one i won't intend to use

Fucking qq.com how do they work?
I got me some not-lego technik gearbox, and as usual, the manual is a pdf, but I cant get to the fucking file, outside of the seven-layers-of-hell javascript. I just want a fucking pdf file!
It's all in Chink, so even if there's a download button, I can't find it.
Also no obvious pdf file in the source and nothing obvious shows up when fucing about in inspector or trying to monitor what it's fetching off the network. Anyone able to find the link to the pdf file in https://docs.qq.com/doc/DSHBhSk56QU5LS2FC ?
>>
>>106776954

but it appears to be in chunks.
i tried to download each chunk and concatenate them, and got a valid pdf but it has two corrupt pages, not sure why

it appears to be all images anyway, so maybe edit the corrupt pdf and replace those two pages with the correct images or something

I don't think anyone even makes mice properly anymore, 10 years ago you could still buy cheap mice to get proper optical scroll wheels, but now they've migrated everything over to the mechanical encoders. Guess you can pay way too much for an MX master.

I bought this exact for $23 on sale. The worst part is I can't review it for you well. I've been using it for a year now, I guess it helps? It's squishy, holds its shape decently well, I'm very sedentary and overall it's probably better with it than without it, but it hasn't been a game changer. Probably better to buy a good chair than sinking money trying to fix a fundamentally bad one.

spent some time looking at it and found a solution to get the actual original pdf.
when you click on that "view" button on that document to open the pdf file, it should link to
>https://docs.qq.com/pdf/DSEtQQ1VjWFZFRUp6
taking that pdf id and consulting the tencent api with it
>https://docs.qq.com/dop-api/pdf/data/get?id=DSEtQQ1VjWFZFRUp6
you get a json with all the info of the file (not the content). the only requirement is that you need to set the referer http header to something valid like
>https://docs.qq.com/
(i use refcontrol on cuckfox so i just set it to forge the domain all the requests refer to the base domain of it)
then on the returned json, you get the direct link to the pdf file that can be downloaded on
>data.collab_client_vars.pdfData.url

now open up, here comes the airplane, vrooooom

I need a camera with manual focus to record what i do in my table.
Any ideas? would those 2k microscopes be enough? should i just get a used Canon/Sony/Nikon camera?
>>
>>106778472
I bought a random one from amazon some years ago and it still holds up, I don't think it matters much which one you get since it's just foam. I suggest you also get some cushions for your armrests too because you'll be sitting higher and all.
>>
>>106780321
>microscopes
Those are for magnifying and you won't be able to capture the entirety of the table, if that's what you're after.

>used Canon/Sony/Nikon camera
If recording on camera, then that should work.
If using hdmi output and recording on computer, then you have to check to see which cameras permanently show the camera ui and which don't.

What about a cheap webcam?

Or your phone camera?
>>
>>106780400
Im filming PCBs so i have to get a microscope anyway.

>Or your phone camera?
I got a Nokia 5.1 Plus from 2018 which im using, i will upgrade it soon but not for now it barely does the job.

I got 2 main problems with using phones
#1 Autofocus sucks, they always randomly refocus when i move something and its almost impossible to make them focus perfectly again as im filming.

#2 UV filters
I need them because most PCBs have reflective as fuck surfaces and that can easily ruin videos.

The microscope stand can be build out of fairly standard bits,
so you're not necessarilly stuck with what you initially see.

Those cheap digital microscopes with the attached screen?
Don't know how standard or non-standard they are.
No idea if can attach a barlow lens, or change out the main lens.
I expect they are built down to a cost.

I ordered one of ones with attached screen and an waiting for it to arrive.

I'm in the market for a new PC controller, my XSX pad fucking shat the bed with stick drift beyond imagination. No, no need to tell me to replace the sticks with HE or TMR ones, I tried, I managed to make the right one work with a TMR one, but the left one just won't respond, and chances are I fried parts of the board.
So, a new controller that is. I need it to be:
- A carbon copy of the Xbox layout
- HE/TMR sticks
- NO backbuttons I won't ever use and will make the grip feel like shit. In fact, I don't want any extra buttons.
- 2.4Ghz, and good enough response time
- Have good battery life, if it's under 20h with vibrations, I won't look at it. So we're looking at least at Switch/Switch 2 battery life, with 1300 mAh or something, if not 1600.

Should be simple enough, especially as I don't want any fancy stuff, meaning I'd be looking at entry level pads from Gamsir, Gulikit, Flydigi, 8bitdo. But then they are all plagued with pathetic 600 mAh batteries. It's always upgradeable, but then I'd pay as much for a decent battery than the pad.

I have the 8bitdo ultimate C2 and the Gamesir Cyclone 2, both are pretty nice with decent latency, but both have extra buttons. You can ignore them easier on the 8bitdo one though, and I recommended it to another friend of mine and he liked it as well. I personally don't think the battery is an issue if you just buy them with their charging stand and place them there when you're not using them, I don't think my Gamesir one has ever ran out of battery because that's what I do, can't say the same about the 8bitdo because I don't have the stand for it.

>Have good battery life, if it's under 20h with vibrations, I won't look at it.
I don't know if this exists stock, most chinkshit is like 10-16hrs with rumble and max polling rate. I don't think there's an option that doesn't have a compromise somewhere else either.

Gulikit ES (Pro) has no 2.4ghz
8Bitdo Ultimate 2C has a more compact shape and extra shoulder buttons
Flydigi Direwolf 3 (and upcoming 4) has protruding back buttons
Gamesir Cyclone 2 has flat back buttons that you might be able to ignore. Haven't used a Switch 2 Pro Controller but I assume they're similar. D-pad shape isn't the same, but the Nova 2 Lite's back buttons look more intrusive.

Thanks, those are options that made it to my shortlist, but there's always something missing (or an addition I don't want). There always a compromise. Maybe I'll have to learn to live with those additional back-buttons. I'll make sure I'll aim for unobtrusive ones though.

I live in the Philippines and recently I stumbled upon an interesting case of chinkshit. It doesn't seem like anyone is selling this on aliexpress but you may be able to source it from an importer in your country if such things exist. Or you can try getting a sample from alibaba.

https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Used-Router-JCG-Q20-AX1800M-Wifi6_1600983149197.html

I paid around $9 for this fucking thing. It has Wifi 6 and is supported by OpenWRT. While yes these are used unlike most of what is normally discussed in this thread it is an unusually good value for money.

I plan to put it in client mode and stick it in the house next door where my wife's mother has been staying along with my TP Link router I am decommissioning because I get better speeds from my ISP supplied modem/router combo. So if it goes well I will have 3 pieces of chinkshit working in harmony. Huawei modem/router from ISP->OpenWRT client mode->TP Link router for extended coverage.

It could be solved by adding a little fan, alas I don''t have enough space between the card+rad and the next PCIe card. And no, shuffling the PCIe cards around won't work, it wants a very specific port to work.

I bought a basic USB-C hub with 4 USB-A ports. When I plug it into the USB-C port on my laptop, nothing happens.
Am I being retarded. Is there some details with USB-C standards that I'm noob to?

> USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port
> DisplayPort Alt-Mode (Only on computers shipped with graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or GTX 1650
It's a Dell G5. Here's the specs on the port. I use the USB-C port for data. It's also capable of supplying basic 5V 3A PD. It's not a laptop charging port.

When I plug USB hub > Kowsi meter > Laptop. The meter shows the hub drawing power. Otherwise the hub has no signs of life at all. No power. No data.

The hub also has a USB-C port. WHen I plug that into a USB charger. The hub supplies power on the USB-A ports. No data to the laptop though.

Am I being retarded? Is it a dud device? What's going on?
I just wanted more USB-A ports.
>>
>>106791827
Oh well the magic smoke escaped from the usb controller chip when I tried again plugging the female c port on the hub to a usb charger. It worked okay once though.
Weird that there are reviews with photos showing it working. No 1 star reviews saying it's complete shit.
I don't know what happened. Either I expected too much for $3 (with discounts and credits) or I'm a USB-C retard.

QA on chink shit is shit and you should expect that you'll frequently need to buy multiple things, ESPECIALLY with electronics

Imo it's not even worth purchasing a single USB cable or whatever from ali, because there's a pretty sizeable chance it'll not work from the start or stop working pretty quickly

This is a model replica of Sting from Lord of the Rings that I bought for about £6. I'm quite happy with the level of detail and the materials used. When it arrived the blade was a little bit bent (just bowed) but I was able to bend it back straight without too much trouble. It's about 8 inches long from pommel to tip.

This is another model replica I got in the same order, of Gandalf's sword Glamdring. It's also very good in terms of detail. This one didn't need any straightening out.
Both came with keyring attached, which I took off. They're flimsy and the swords are way too big to have attached to a set of keys.
I also got a little stand that is often listed alongside these models for a little over a pound. It's not great, not terrible. It's plastic rather than wood and the pieces just sort of limply fit together (not quite snapping, but that kind of fix).
All in all, I am very happy with the models.

that seems like a hassle but i guess i could try to set it up so that it switches between the bluetooth dongle and wired connection depending on what's connected. but honestly i rarely play competitive gaymes very often so maybe i'm just better off switching to my other wired headphones when i need to do so. i'd like to keep this headset is because it has the best audio i've ever tried (astro a50). though at its price range it's probably not hard to find wireless headphones that are as good or better

Bundle came in, everything seems fine

Not much to say, it works and the price is right.
>3pcs banana plug to crocodile plug adapters (2.14€ for all 3)

>MJD-D9 engineer solder sucker clone (2.29€)
As the other anons have reported, it's great. Full metal construction, comes with 2 spare silicone tubes to cut to size, works well. The thing that separates the good from the bad in this category is going to be tolerances, ease of cleaning and construction and this one seems to satisfy all 3. Construction is solid and feels quality. Honorable mention to the spring, it's stiff enough to be able to have a lot of force for good suction yet just soft enough to be able to charge it with one hand (I've got below average grip strength, so if I can do it, probably anyone can). Ease of cleaning is also great, it's easy to access without damaging the mechanism and the threading seems good. Tolerances seem great too. The bottom (where you unscrew it to clean) has a rubber gasket and the piston inside is lubricated well with no visual play. When I press it to suck in air and hold the hold closed it stays at equilibrium (where suction force of the vacuum = spring tension force), which suggests to me there's a good air seal.
Overall I see little reason this should be any worse than the genuine one, but at a 10th the price.
Link is https://aliexpress.com/item/1005008904616008.html but as always that link is probably the non bundle version, bundle will be cheaper.

Can anyone 101 me on chink knives?

>Can anyone 101 me on chink knives?
Sure what do you wanna know?
>I'm going for the Damascus-ish vg10 core chefs knife. Not 100% sure if it's the right move.
It probably is, it's definitely the king of value, as you get the upsides of a premium steel (the core), combined with the cheapness of trash steel (the cladding) which also happens to look nice. That being said, it's still VG10, so the downsides of that do still exist.

You basically want to read
https://csg-guide.neocities.org/#damascus-knives-20-50
https://imgur.com/a/ck-beginners-guide-to-knives-rev-1-1-mWK2xSG

What you want is a good sharpener (arguably more important than a good knife), and to think about what shape of knife and what size you are aiming for.
There's also picrel, but no idea how real that is and if you should limit yourself to those brands, picrel is just a random screenshot I had in my images folder for a while now. Might be a reddit or youtube comment, so approach it with the same skepticism you'd approach either of those.
>>
>>106798913
Shit - i missed the guide before asking. I'll have a read. Thanks!
I've seen that comment btw - it's from a youtube video on these knives.
>>
>>106798997
Basically the TL;DR is:
Hard steel keeps its edge longer, which is a property that people value a lot.
But it also means it's harder to sharpen and it's more brittle. That latter part can be a real issue for people who don't care about knives, as it can cause chipping. Case in point when I still had a roommate he used my VG-10 knife and chipped the tip by putting it in the sink roughly.
If you're fine with slightly harder sharpening and being more careful of your blade to avoid the chipping, it's probably the best "commonly available" steel right now. There are more performant ones, but those tend to cost insane amounts of money.

As for the shape, really you'll consider between the shapes of the /ck/ guide, western chef is the default, santoku is fairly popular in the west too and shines for people who aren't used to longer knives, gyuto is for the weebs and cai daos are for people who enjoy cleavers and chinese cookery.
I own all 4 of the shapes and each of them has its merits and downsides. If you've never had a cai dao or vegetable cleaver, probably best to skip that shape for now, all 3 of the others are fine though.
>>
>>106799051

Looks fine, it'll probably serve you well. And a 8 inch western knife is a good allrounder.
>I'll need to think about a sharpening stone, a tool one I've got is very low grit.
Sadly I can't give much advice there because I got myself a proper diamond plate after using my old stone up, so no idea on the csg options and quality.
Do leave us a review when the stone (and sharpening option you chose) arrives, more knife reviews are always good.

I bought phone batteries (4000mah vs. stock 3200mah) from Perfine, they are longer lasting than brand new stock and still holding a lot of charge after a year and half, generic 3200mah would be bloated/dead by now.
So chances are their other batteries are also trustworthy and reliable.

I bought one of those giant mousepads with a novelty meme image. It didn't have the thickness spec'd so I assumed it was 2mm because that's the smallest I've seen listed. It turned out to be 1.5mm. It's usable but real floppy like tits on a grandma.

Anyone have recommendations for alarm clocks?
I'm looking for one that has a large display, can display either 12-hour or 24-hour time, multiple alarms (at least 1 different alarm each day), customizable alarm sounds is possible. Bonus if it has a remote so I can put the alarm clock on my desk rather than my nightstand, but not a deal breaker. The most important feature I want is at least 1 different alarm each day, more the better.

>why the 2680 v4 specifically?
For gayming it's good. Which is surprising because it is high core and cache with mediocre single thread. A ukrainian sperg called Miyconst did a bunch of benchmarks for the x99 platform. The cpu is also good for workstation stuff (14 cores/28 threads). Just overall good cpu and it's cheap as shit, with the only downside being it can get thirsty at 120watt tpd. It has headroom to upgrade the gpu too if that's what you need, but I don't know exactly where that sweetspot is.

Just a simple gift/card exchange like they do on /a/ but with chink shit instead of anime. Everyone sends their data and wishes to the organizer and then gets a random other person back that he has to send the gift(s) and card.
On /a/ you usually send the gifts to yourself, make a nice packet with a card + some crafts and then send it to the other anon. Since this is csg I would expect most of this to be drop shipped straight from ali to the other participant but you could still send a card that you made yourself at the same time. Or maybe use one of the personalized items like a mouse pad as a card replacement.
I would have thought this to be pretty small and simple <15$ stuff. So basically I would just expect some fish hat and meme pliers, nothing big.
But the other anon is right that with Burgerland's tariffs this may not be the best time to do this. Also while it generally worked on /a/ there are always some grinches that send nothing. Not sure if a thread where we have people that are eternal penny pinches would fare better or worse.

wait is that a knife holder that gives it a little sharpen every time you pull it out? Pretty cool if so, I might get one for my mother if she has the right spot where to put it in her kitchen

>>106806722
Those pull-through sharpeners are absolute dog-shit and just eat metal off your nice knives.
I understand not wanting to get into stones and relying on one of these, but even in that case, use it sparingly, once every few months, not on every use. Get a ceramic honing stick to use every day, makes a huge difference and keeps your knife intact.

I got this morning robe a couple of weeks ago. It feels really nice to the touch, it's warm and it doesn't get smelly (I shower twice a day and I use anti-acne soap for my armpits so I never had BO problems anyway).
I'm 172cm tall so i choose the XL Navy Blue, but if you are taller is best to go for the XXXL, because i feel XL is just a bit smaller that i thought. The price on screen is in COP btw. It was a nice buy overall.

But yeah, probably just polyester.
For a second I was confused by the price, because I thought it'd be ~$65, which could be cotton at that point. Didn't realize COP depreciated that much - last time I was in Colombia you'd just divide by 1000 to get USD.

I know but if it only gives the knife a pass when you use it it probably doesn't eat it out too much, and the knife itself is cheap anyway. My mother is the perfect target audience for a product like this because she hardly ever sharpens her knives and when she does she uses a shitty old electric pull-through, anything completely manual is too daunting for her

I bought a GuliKit ES Pro that was a little late, but arrived today.
I haven't used it for any actual gaming at this point, and it's response times are pretty well documented so I don't think that'd be helpful for me to speak about it anyway, but here's a couple of points about how it feels, the build quality, and the Linux connectivity for some of the people in this thread who've been thinking about getting a controller.
>Build quality
Basically good. When you apply a little twisting pressure to it it's quite rigid, and it doesn't creak much in the hands. I compared it to a well-used DS4 I own and it creaked about the same amount.
The USB-C port has a tiny gap all around it in the plastic shell where the LED for the logo shines through.
>Feel
The plastic is a little rough, especially on the lower parts where your palms go. It's made rough on purpose on those parts for grip presumably. I don't love or hate how it feels.
The buttons have a nice response, and the sticks move easily, though the heads of the sticks are maybe a little bit slippery. The controller does come with some stick caps with stars on them, but I really don't like how they look.
>Linux connectivity
The controller connected straight away on my Linux machine, and it didn't suffer from any continuous vibration like I'd seen one Linux user complain about. This was, however, in wired mode, so I can't speak on wireless mode right now.
All in all, pretty happy with it I think.
>>
>>106807676
Curious about the Bluetooth range when you get around to checking wireless. My Gulikit Elves 2 has pitiful wireless range and loses connection if I leave the room, I don't know if it's standard for the wireless components they're using or a QC issue.

Chink e-reader showed up, it's very cute. Took it apart, the back is just glued on, it's a little fiddly because they glued the circuit board to the back of the device, but after opening it up I was able to remove the pointless magnet taking the device from 77g (They claimed 74) to 68g, so about a 10g saving. It was a real hassle to get out though, I think they must've assembled the thing from the front because otherwise I don't see how the battery would be attached. Internal circuit board is cheap, but the case design is weirdly fairly good, although it is plastic.

As an actual e-reader, it's not great, very little formatting support so you basically can't use it for anything beyond basic text, and you have to convert most things to work properly with it. It's a real shame, if this had a half-decent e-reader on it, it'd be really nice. They're remaking it with android support at some point, but that looks worse in every other way, I wish they'd just improve the reader on this.
>>
>>106808098
Maybe koreader supports it,, although I doubt it
>>
>>106807726
I normally use cables when possible. However, I've just checked bluetooth connectivity on my laptop for you.
Test:
>Distance: roughly 7m
>Walls: 2 right angles, so 4 thicknesses worth of wall, 1 tiled, 3 drywall
>Connected to: my Linux laptop's built in bluetooth module
Connectivity seems to be fine. It didn't disconnect, and stick movements I sent through to a stick accuracy checker were present when I returned to my laptop.
This is nice to test because it also shows that one users report of constant vibrating when connected to a Linux machine was either something specific to his setup, or fixed in a later version.

I'm tempted to get one, but I'm not a fan of the fact it isn't available sold as Choice, though. I've had a few non-Choice items wrongly declare VAT to the EU recently (or rather failing to declare it electronically, I think), so I've been getting an extra customs bill of like $25 on $3 items. Had to reject them and let them get returned. So now I almost only order Choice, since AliExpress themselves knows how to do it properly.
>>
>>106809818
I've never had an issue with VAT, maybe I've just been lucky.

Honestly, I think it's a tough sell. If the software was on par with other similar chink readers, I'd say it was fantastic. As is, you're pretty limited to plaintext, and I don't even think you can change the font without making quotation marks bug out. The android version will probably be better for most people.
>>
>>106809917
Yeah, but I bet the Android version will also me much more expensive. And I already have a bigger fully-featured ebook reader with Android.
What's the battery like on this one?
>>
>>106810322
I just got it, so who knows. Given the 650mAh battery and lack of light, I imagine 15-20 hours.

I don't think the android one will be that much more expensive, maybe a hundred bucks. There's already the Inkpalm 5 at that price point.
