They didn't care about GOOD games, or even good technology anymore. Nope, just whatever the most popular fps slop was.360 was a turning point, into the wrong direction. It infantilized gaming, made it "cheap", tacky, overly accessible and disposable. This how we ended up with "gayming chairs", "gayming headphones", "gayming mouse". All of it cheap inferior shit that had no post-modern sheen or swag. I truly believe this piece of shit killed the 2000s, and any dignity in gaming, also. Its why we ended up with Minecraft, Fortnite, gaming chairs, Twitch, kids on gaming pcs, cheap nasty looking mice.I just want a normal fucking mouse, because I've always been a real computer user, you know? Fuck you, Xbox; it's like Apple, fisher price bullshit.
Nigga, the 360 was great. So many good games on it. Shit didn't get really bad until the XBONE and PS4.

Just face the facts that they have always been with us playing video games OP. I think the bigger issue with the 360 wasn't that they were playing on it but more that XBL brought easy online to everyone and within time technology/internet improvements also led to people getting smartphones, making social media accounts, among other things.
The rise of youtube probably had more to do with a some of the stuff you are complaing about. For example minecraft got really popular in part from early youtube let's plays. It all went wrong once people began to make money from these kinds of videos and began treating it as their job, which then led to streamers and esports and the new, insufferable "gamer" culture. Obviously there is other shit I am missing that contributed overall like the indie game boom (which xbox live arcade actually was a part of on the console side of things), social/mobile gaming concepts (microtransactions), gamergate, etc but you get the idea.
