I’d like to know if anyone has an Altair 8800 nowadays and if you’d recommend buying one. I’d also like to know if it can run Linux and be connected to the internet

it uses a linear power supply so sucks alot of power. waste of electricity.

An Altair 8800 is nice, but not for running Linux.
Just because you can... you already know.
It'll be a very shitty experience, not as much as running Linux on an Intel 4004 but come on now.

Maybe it will take "only" 12 hours to boot Linux as opposed to more than 4 days like it did on the Intel 4004 but just run something period accurate or better yet, run your own OS.
The hardware is so primitive that you could memorize everything the hardware does.
And you know, write an OS that utilizes the hardware in a way you think is fitting.

>6 hours to run `uname -a`
>multiple minutes to echo a single character typed at the command line
Disgustingly based.
