Customizing Windows 7 so it works like a modern OS is almost like customizing Linux except what you're doing is entirely unsupported and is not even guaranteed to work. Because it's NOT supposed to work. I just use Mac these days and everything just works. It's by far the least bad out of the 3 main choices. My works laptop is still on Windows 10. I have told my employer that if they don't let me keep the OS by upgrading me to LTSC, then I will put my notice in, something which I am fully prepared to do. I have a meeting tomorrow and we'll see what happens; either they sort it or I'll get a job somewhere else.
