using websdr i am able to tune in on a bunch of frequencies in the HF range.i've got GNURadio and some other misc ham radio programs installed.obviously, i can only receive so no TX. i'm trying to get SSTV images decoded using QSSTV but the output from the WebSDR seems too noisy. it seems to sync and detect the encoding but the image is so noisy that there is nothing discernible.what can be done to increase signal to noise?
>>106790275>webSDRSelf-hosted or some website?
>>106790321website (utwente.nl)
>>106790356There's a few things you can do:>Try turning on noise reduction (probably won't help because the receiver being used is shit, but it's worth trying)>Click on the "wider" part a few times on the filter>Use other webSDR / KiwiSDR sites and find one that's closest to your signal. (This is probably your solution)Also, how noisy are we talking about? Can you send a sample?
>>106790397>find other sourcesthats what i suspected.there is basically nothing on the images. 99.9% noise.theoretically, could it "detect" a false signal if there is too much noise?because it does seem to detect the format but i dont know if this is correct or not. (say Martin 1)
alsothe last two striped ones have nothing to do with sstv, it was on some other frequency and for some reason it flagged it as a signal.i suppose that means it can get fooled. thinking its sstv when its obviously not.
>>106790481This looks like 100% noise to me, feed it some sstv test recordings from yt to see if it's a signal issue or a setup issue
>>106790397the decoder works.tested using a youtube video with a clear recording.that clears it up mostly. i just need to find a high quality source.
>>106790618Oh yeah, if the test works then it's probably a signal issue. You can try websdr / kiwisdr sites from http://rx.linkfanel.net/ or http://kiwisdr.com/.public/Also, kiwisdr can do SSTV, no need for third party programs
>>106790657whats currently the most useful stuff you are able to usually receive?
>>106790657i'm interested in weather images or digital transmissions, whatever really.
>>106790738Not strictly SSTV, but DRM broadcasts, it's for a university project. The only time I "receive" SSTV broadcasts is when a russian villager from Siberia decides to broadcast (shitpost really) old soviet propaganda pics or soviet retro club invitations on military frequencies (usually those used by NATO Link-11, it's pretty funny)
>>106790820Those satellite faggots can't into HF so I doubt it.
>>106790831Holy based. Is there info about him online?
>>106790889I think Ringway Manchester covered it too, but I can't find the video
>>106790744NTA but check this:https://www.rtl-sdr.com/tag/weather-satellite/
