Some schools allow ChromeOS Flex, which would allow you to use a Windows/Mac laptop and run ChromeOS on a flashdrive/portable SSD you run over USB/thunderbolt.

Still more than fast enough to not feel dogshit slow when running ChromeOS, but you're still able to boot into windows/macOS and do your normal shit.

chromebooks are perfect for schools for a variety of reasons, but people who willingly buy a laptop that runs entirely on google botnet are insane. i can get behind fyde-os but only for a child

Maybe learn how to write with a pen or how to calculate 2+2 first before you get hooked on the machine for the rest of your life? I fucking hate this dystopia. If I would be in charge, computers including tablets mustn't be used in schools, period. Giving iPads to elementary school children in class is a psyop from big tech to make you more dependent on their technologies and the surveillance state, and even if they used only 100% libre software on them, it's still detrimental to learning and WILL make you retarded if you use it at that age. I hate those teachers who think they're doing the students a service by giving them those devices, I hate the parents who don't think this is utterly insane, and I hate society for no shunning big tech for this psyop.

Why do elementary school students even need to have laptops? When I was in elementary school, we did everything on paper and only went to the computer room a few times for typing classes or whatever. Honestly, I believe that school work should only be done on paper. It would reduce the risk of cheating and make it harder for students to get distracted by "social media".
