Bloat and spyware are valid concerns. Anyone on /g/ can resolve both with some scripts and a few basic programs and make it not-shitty. The rest of the normie world can't and that sets a precedent.

If corporations are people (in America) and they can spy on you without fear of retribution or retaliation, what's to say the government can't get access to that information? Look what's happening in the PRC with their social credit score program, what's to say some crazy person in the States or anywhere else doesn't implement something similar?

There's a whole bunch of you who never read a history book and that's absolutely frightening.

explorer.exe has become bloated and retarded for the average user
too many "helpful" features that get in the way of users who know exactly what they want to do with their PC
and, all the supposed alternatives to restore the shell are bloated and/or paywalled as well, adding to the cancer

Windows 11 would be useful to me if we could tear down the shell entirely and replace it with a lightweight one that doesn't weigh several hundred megabytes in RAM to do basically nothing. Even if I have 64GB I give a shit about this because it will only get worse.

The main issue in my eyes is that it's being forced in. You say it does it well, but 10 does it well too. So did 7, and XP and so on. We're just being made to switch from something that works to something that works, but uses up slightly more resources and has everything you've grown accustomed to shuffled around. It's like having someone come into your house every few years and rearrange all your stuff, so you have to either begrudgingly adapt to it or waste time moving it all back again.

this shit is so fucking slow and it drives me crazy because nobody else seems to notice or care enough to bring it up. I installed a fresh W11 enterprise image on my work laptop, and even with a fresh install, the start menu and explorer take a solid 2 seconds to open. It feels like a shitty remaster where they bolted on a new GUI on top of existing code without fixing any of the underlying issues.

god forbid you accidentally path to the wrong UNC address, it will completely fuck your explorer for 30+ seconds. I cant believe this is STILL an issue with windows. at least in windows 10 you could usually close the window and keep working, but it completely softlocks explorer on W11.
>>
>>106802604
>the start menu and explorer take a solid 2 seconds to open
thats because the shit is hardwired to bing.com for online search, should be a registry hack somewhere where you can disable online searching and it will be smoother because it isnt actually pinging bing etc first.

I bought a refurb laptop (w10 era but 'upgraded' to W11) and it ran hella hot. Don't know what W11 does but CPU going apeshit constantly.
I planned on putting linux on it but rode W11 for a few weeks just to try it out.
My verdict is it's just a more bloated 10
the only thing that really bugged me is what everyone else says about it... the right click function is fucked.
I still use windows constantly (i have a job)
windows 10 is much better. my gaming computer has w10 and I am going to keep it, security be damned

at work we've been switching over to Win 11 and we noticed that after a while, everyone's RAM usage eventually gets pinned to ~99% and the only solution is to reimage the PC entirely, but that's just a bandaid solution; after a while (a few months), the problem will show up again. Adding more RAM doesn't help btw. All of our PCs have at least 8GB of RAM but the ones with 16GB still have this issue.

- The settings are all over the place,
- There are ads in the programs,
- Ai everywhere,
- It infantilizes you and handholds you every step of the way,
- LOOK AT THE NEW OUTLOOK ITS FUCKING SHIT,
- Try finding a specific file you forgot where it is but do remember the name of (file explorer is so shitty),
- Just the ui change from w10 is just so horrid,
- It tried to mimic apple's design but stopped halfway- the rounded corners and the start menu are shit,
- The start menu lags the machine, at idle the machine eats close to 50% ram,
- Battery life is heavily limited on laptops,
- It crashes so much its just a pain at some point to even boot up the machine,
- THE FUCKING SEARCH DOESNT SEARCH YOUR FILES OR PROGRAMS, IT SEARCHES BING WHAT THE FUCK
- Simple settings are locked in different parts of the system to such an extent you have to voodoo just to change the timezone (yes you have to resort to watching a 10yr old vid and the command line just to correct it wtf), etc..

I can go on and on, but the problem is wincucks like you do not want to believe the cock in your ass is not your own

Unforgivable. While you can remove their "search highlights" crap, to actually stop it searching bing you have to use group policy or the registry. I wouldn't care if they just put this in settings, but hiding this option is disgusting.

It requires TPM which is long-story-short hardware fingerprinting.

Truth is if you want to live in a society with computers, you have to expect "Intel" are going to spy on you. You have to literally accept this condition when you install. Otherwise you're going on the naughty list and getting hacked and surveilled anyway, so do right by your own society and install the certificates peasent

- The experience was so shitty that I started using linux on my personal machine out of spite, and suffice to say, I don't get cucked by microflaccid anymore, my system is my own.
- the problem is you never truly if you are at fault or if the os is, atleast with loonix you know its a skill issue on your part if you mess up.

Just to be clear, for the timezone I don't understand the issue you're having. It should just be in "date and time".

As for search, perhaps you need to rebuild the index, or make sure that what you wish to find is actually being indexed. I have tens of thousands of pdfs on my machine, and the indexed search finds files by their contents instantly.

Picture of a TPM hardware fingerprinting chip (requires Intel Trusted Execution Technology in CPU) to drive neuronal activation, as I'm probably the only human in thread. Anyone pushing performance or lack of features is retarded or worse, it's the privacy issue that is the only hard no. The only line in the sand. You must agree to give it up, totally, for whatever purposes they want, everything you do, look at, how long for, with whom, etc. Recall is just the tip. Theres's a whole shaft of concerns to follow but apparently you love it and can't love without it (windows) so idk what to say. False on both points. The avg experience is shit (refer to my previous post on this- >>106805181, and others here).
To have a decent experience you either need to lobotomize yourself or need to fuck some shit up in the system. (I might be exaggerating, but it really is a pain)
>>
>>106805625

It's not the lack of privacy, we've never had privacy. It's the acceptance that we expect it, agree to it, consciously choose to bring it into our lives. This is why I made comparison to a whore over, say, your mother, whom I'm sure is a very respectable and monogamous woman. If she were participating in a gangbang of 8 black dudes I am confident she would resist to the end. OPs mom on the other hand is famously dirty, and regularly gargles anonymous balls. She signs up for that shit, and indeed if she doesn't get the performance she expects she will be disappointed. The issue with Windows 11 is that we are trying to get your Mom to accept that she is actually OP's Mom, get her agreement, so when they start passing your Mom's ass around for the highest bidder her protests will fall on deaf ears.

Shells like StartAllBack can only keep all the slop pinned inside a bursting backroom for so long. Windows 12 or whenever they streamline the menu systems (possible?) and kill the shells will be the ultimate kibosh on Windows as viable.

You seriously might as well use Samsung Dex over Windows these days if you're not doing any heavy computing for work.
