6-7 inch laptops disappeared

these days we have only 12 inch which is likely smallest available

heres what 6 inch laptop meant in year 2000:

-200 MHz Pentium MMX CPU just fast enough to run Windows 2000 at reasonable speed providing you use only software that doesnt require more from CPU
-800x480 resolution screen
-but the TFT was nevertheless awesome! 16 million colors
-they were able to manufacture much better 6 inch TFTs than what was available in 17" sizes in terms of colors and speed
-64 MB RAM just enough so that Win2000 is feasible, especially if you dont update it past SP2

-you could write word and excel documents with it especially when using Office 97 to 2000 and not later

it was not useful for:
-Windows XP
-GUI Linux, because GUI Linux demands much more from your computer than Win2000 does

You should disappear too.

they disappeared because SoC became so advanced and capable. it's still neat tho. i think there are a few examples of that form factor being used. that libretto's keyboard feels better than most of the new ones.

On the smaller end: replaced by PDAs, BlackBerrys, tablets, and now modern smartphones. Occasionally custom hardware if you really need the extra expansion ports.
On the bigger end: replaced by modern laptops.

We have 13 inch laptops with the same footprint.

Subnotebooks were VERY underpowered and expensive machines used primarily in business environment. They stopped being produced because normal notebooks became relatively smaller while offering more power and better prices.
Subnotebooks were cute, but they were mostly for companies that wanted to provide their workers spreadsheet machines on the go. I don't think that any sane person would be paying from their own pockets equivalent of 10k$ for such a toy, lmao.

They didn’t they’re called smartphones now

I Miss my 1.6ghz atom
>>
>>106804426
Because they’re 6-7 inches
>>
>>106804426
They're unusable for serious work and for casual use, smartphones and tablets are just way better.
>>
>>106804426
Because 6-7" laptops have been replaced by the oversized phone.
