This is the sad thing about todays software not just that you have to deal with 200-800MB ish of ram usage that is just pure bloated code and not any kind of cache, but that devs are now too lazy to code proper loading so now it increasingly data has to been in ram or at least NVME SSD.

If your shitty assets are 150MB then load with a gray background, finish what the user wanted to do and fade in the picture when it finished loading from disk. This used to be standard.

It's very interesting when there's a counterexample, win8.1 runs well on HDD, win10+ stutters a lot. Functionality and ram usage is the same, just less optimized loading routines.

In games hzd2 runs well on HDD, loading times are longer but there is no popin and that's in a 2024 game with top of the line graphics, open world with no loading screens and flying "vehicles". Meaning, the problems on other engines is just bloat.
