I'm switching from Windows to Linux. As a beginner, what's the best Linux distro for me. I'm not good with Linux commands yet.. But I'm learning.. So.. What's the best Linux distro for me..

>>106815338go to distrosea and try whether you prefer Xfce or KDEthen you have 4 choices which package manager you preferArch, Debian, Fedora, OpenSUSE (Alphabetical Order)personally I like linux mint Xfce but you may like something different

Install UbuntuOpen terminal, put in >gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock click-action 'minimize' This makes apps minimize when you click them on the taskbar, like Windows. Anything else is a meme, don't listen to it.
>>106815417>Install UbuntuAh great the microsoft shills have arrived
>>106815426Yeah I know you guys hate things that work well but I assume OP wants to use his computer not fix it 24/7.
>>106815374faggot>>106815338Kubuntu or SUSE Leap with KDE Plasma
Linux Mint is the best distro and feels and works exactly like Windows. If you know how to use Windows, you will have zero issues with Mintand there is no drawback to that. it is not a beginner distro and nothing will ever make you step out of your comfort zone except your curiosity, but you will return to Mint because it is the best distro
unironically the biggest appeal of Linux to me beyond filesystems, is DEs/WMsput whatever on a spare disk and fuck with DEs/WMs to find one you'd like to live in for a long time
>>106815461sick screenshots of hacker looking desktops are what made me want linux way back in 1999. that and the promise of free software (i didn't realize they meant gay nerd shit)
>>106815355This bot is malfunctioning.
i went back to windows like 5 weeks ago
>>106815338In windows, use wsl --list --online and pick one of these that you'd like to use. Ubuntu is popular with beginners.
>>106815338linux mint or fedora is what you are looking for
Linux Mint Debian Edition. They mark all the packages manual so you won't mess the system up with apt autoremove if you uninstall LibreOffice.
>>106815665why would you even do that? in mint you just right click and click uninstall it does all that shit for you
>>106815338instal virtualbox on windows and get ubuntu and install kde version and see how you like it
>>106815684I don't like leftover dependencies (LibreOffice has a shit load). If you uninstall it from the menu it's still going to leave behind all the dependencies just as it would from the command line. This doesn't happen in regular Debian.
Thank you all. I'll try Linux Mint Cinnamon
>>106815710why would autoremove --purge break Mint but not Debian?
>>106815338most will suggest mint, ubuntu and so onwhile these are okay distros, for a complete beginner moving from windows i will recommend something else: mx linuxit isn't "lightweight", but rather "midweight", and it will make your transition much less painful and help you grasp how it all connects with less effort and issues than other distrosat that point you will understand enough to know exactly what you need and you can move on to something that is better suited to you exactly
>>106816632yeah great recommendation, a distro that is installed on over 12 computers across the world with over 12 users to help you if you run into any issues
>>106815338try mintdisregard the faggots screaming about desktop environments. it really doesn't matter
>>106815338Linux Mint Cinnamon edition.
go with KEKbuntu
>>106815338Pick linux mint or Pop Os, once you get the hang of everything linux (after some months/years) switch to a real distro like debian or fedora depending on your needs
>>106816756>disregard the faggots screaming about desktop environments. it really doesn't matterIt really does matter it's probably the most important thing for a beginner
/g/ zoomers think Linux is hard and think only computer guys can use it. If you are autistic enough to be on 4chan in 2025, if you can operate a smart phone or a tablet like a toddler, then you can use linux. any distro, including fucking ARCH with it's graphical installget over yourselves, it's embarrassing to witness this shit day after day on here. You are all pointing and clicking just like an itoddler
>>106816739mx is a continuation of mepis, one of the oldest distros around, is in collaboration with antix, has a bunch of old school developers that have being doing this for longer than you have been alive, has a very big and very active community, and any issue you might have are also debian issues so support doesn't get better than thismaybe try not being a smartass whoo has no idea what he's talking about and shut your retarded little mouth because it only exposes how clueless you are, you worthless little piece of shit
>>106815338Pick one. It doesn't matter. It only matters when you know how the difference. Yes I'm counting "advanced" distros like Arch and NixOS, but you probably want to start with Ubuntu, Fedora, PopOS, Mint, etc.
Just install Linux mint and ignore all the screeching. It’s fast, easy to use, has a familiar UI, and it has everything you need to get started. If you like it then start experimenting with different distros until you find something you like but don’t worry about impressing people.
For me, its OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. Contrary to popular opinion I think YaST and zypper are great. Good distro if you like rolling release and btrfs for rollbacks. Its KDE by default.
>>106815338don't listen to mintroons, it's outdated garbage distroinstall either fedora or arch
>>106815360this is good advice for a Windows userSPBPWelcome aboard the flotilla OP
If I was starting now I would probably go with fedora.
Fedora
Fedora is for white men, mint is for browns and trannies.
>>106815338There are actually only 2 (Two) Linux distributions- Debian- ArchEverything else is a mental illness.Everything ITT is a meme and deception delaying you from installing Arch on your personal computer by following the simple instructions in the Arch wiki.If you have a server like a VPS for websites or backups then it's Debian, because it's provides basically outdated versions of the software and doesn't change much, which is good for something that just needs to sit there until it dies.

arch vs fedora?arch sounds cooler but seems like the ultimate tinkertranny distro
>>106815338arch just works
>>106818728Arch is for ppl who want to rice their distro to the extreme and have the time/patience to do so. Fedora has much less customization but both KDE and Gnome do let you customize a bit. Ive even heard people are getting hyprland running on fedora.
I've been thinking of going back to linux too and with the death of 10 coming up I think that might just be the last push I need. Last time I had Ubuntu

>>106815338>I'm learning>What's the best Linux distroarch, but unironicallyif you dont want to learn anything then something preconfigured, like endeavourOS or Omarchy. if you hate your life then something based on dpkg, like mint
