Discord strikes me as a half-baked imitation of old-fashioned PHPBB message boards and 4chan. I went around looking for certain kinds of channels I might like, but just found wastelands. So I see the same issue that plagues 4chan: you may have this or that discussion "board"/chatroom spring up, some folks have a lot of fun with discussions, but later don't know what to do while everyone is away, busy with their lives, and so there is nothing but ultimately just empty, pointless small talk or outright shitposting. Can sometimes be that "everyone" never returns, so just shitposters are all that remains. In some 4chan generals, it's just one schizo talking to himself all week, fucking kekLike a number of general threads across this site, some of those Discord channels should only be open and active during weekends, or just close down or something, it looks to me. Plus the whole thing needs to be restructured and reworked, it is clunky to use and trying to search old posts is a crappy timesink compared to desuarchive and PHPBB boards and the like.Channels and threads rise and fall like fads and trends. A lot of things online and in the real world are like that.
