The plan fell through, the girls got released into the general populace, then decades later they became a political liability and the powers that be tried cleaning them up. Oh ho how many parallels does this story have now, thirty years later.

It's really good, like an anime version of Blade Runner, and it was made in the early 90s peak OVA period so it looks absolutely fucking fantastic. The main hero ends up having twin babies with the robot girl.
