Is this actually good if you don't want to pay?
>>
tried to draw a few rectangles and gave up and fired a win11 vm and did it in fucking paint
>>
>if you don't want to pay?
then yes, very

it's unironically the best image editing tool, paid or free.
>>
>>106817633
For most people out there this is more than enough. Even some pro's can get by using it.
>>
>>106817655
GIMP isn't drawing but image manipulation. its name is GNU Image Manipulation Tool. try krita if you want to do drawing
>>
>>106817671
>filtered
nah I know about stroke selection but it's just too complicated for fast drawing shit
>>
>>106817633
Krita does what I want and is easier to use.
>>
>>106817633
>he doesn't have a 15 years old cracked copy of photoshop cs5 that just works out of the box
>>
even a web app is better than gimp
photopea.com
>>
>>106817633
>Is this actually good
no
but it's probably good enough for most, assuming you're willing to put in a bunch of effort into it
>>
>>106817921
I like photopea but it's a pain in the ass that the dev changes keyboard shortcuts occasionally.
>>
I never had issue with the gimp's UI and even the old multi window tool trays were perfectly fine. It's the tool interactions with selections and layers that always drove me insane as they never followed any human logic.
>>
>>106817814
where did you find a box with that inside?
>>

repent

if you dont want to pay for what? photoshop? sure, gimp is better. clip studio paint? i would rather nail my dick to a table.
>>
>>106817633
yes, but krita is a better choice for painting, GIMP is if you are trying to do graphics design.
krita has everything needed to paint, GIMP has EVERYTHING needed for graphics design.

i say check krita first, try it out for an hour or two, then try GIMP
>>
>>106817633
utter dogshit. use krita instead.

>t. used GIMP for an image design class in HS
>>
>>106817633
You don't need more than xpaint
>>
>>106817633
I dont like it. Cracked CS6 from 2012 is all you need
>>
>>106817633
If you don't want to pay, you would just privateer Photoshop. It's never morally wrong to pirate Adobe products.

Then again, I use GIMP to edit pictures like change color temperature, combine images and so on. If you need to draw pictures, use Krita. I say, GIMP plus Krita combo might just good enough for you.
>>
>>106819771
*draw figures.
>>
>>106817685
Even if gimp isn't for drawing, there still needs to be an easy way to create basic shapes because they are used in designs. I am talking about being able to create a shape as a vector so that you don't have to recreate it every time you want to make it bigger or change its fill color or stroke width.
>>
>>106817633
I don't like 3.0 and I am sorry I upgraded. I'm still uaing 2.9 on my laptop.
>>
>>106817633
it takes a little getting used to and some things take more steps than should be necessary, such as making text with an outline, or making curved text, etc, but it's comfy once you know what you're doing after watching a few youtube video tutorials
>>
>>106817633
>the gimped image manipulator
No, use photopea or photoshop cs6 on a win7 vm.
>>
>>106817633
Definitely better than it used to be in previous versions. You just need to get used to its shitty UI
>>
>>106817633
make yourself a favor and use krita instead, the trannies who shill gimp don't use and never used another image editing software
>>
>>106822664
I'm just getting into this stuff, does Krita allow working with layers and element selection (whatever it's called, the magic wand thing) the way Photoshop does? That feels to me like 90% of what I need it to do.
>>
>>106817633
This program is pure fucking trash.
>B-but it's free!!!!!
Who the FUCK pays for the actually good software? I've been using Photoshop for 10 years now and haven't paid a single penny or even ever thought of paying

Still rocking CS2 they accidentally gave away for free many years ago.
>>
>>106823349
yes
>>
>>106822664
Not a tranny but I use gimp for exactly this reason. I don't need more.
>>
>>106817633
I've seen people do some impressive stuff in Gimp. That being said though if you want something for free that's easier to learn why not crack Photoshop with GenP? Unless you're on Linux of course.
>>
>>106817633
What's the difference between this and krita? Looking to go legit after pirating photoshop since cs2.
>>
>>106823554
that wasn't accidental, and it wasn't free. it was an activationless copy provided only for existing owners because they were taking the activation server down. if you're using it without a license, it's pirated.
>>
>>106824878
Krita is for drawing. Gimp is more for image editing/design.
>>
>>106817633
it works for basic stuff but if you want to do nice stuff very fast, it's not for you
