How long can they keep it going?

Forever. The economy is fake and so is money.

Imagine if this bubble crashes every major tech company and we get set back 20 years in internet terms. That would be ironic.
It will never happen, but it's good to dream sometimes.
at least i hope reddit and discord go broke and we get back forums and chatrooms
>>
microsoft makes money from unrelated services
who cares, big american tech companies literally make tens of billions of profit annually

It would be like how the Spanish Golden Age began right after they expelled all the Jews

As long as there are people willing to finance it. If there will be continued interest by VC, PE or the stock market to support openAI or nvidia (since they make up the vast majority of deals and amounts made and had their valuation mostly based on the AI bubble) they will continue to keep this train running since they heavily rely on it. What isn't shocking is this circular flow, circular economies can work, but the constant overpromising of nvidia, openAI and the AI sector in general. It lead to openAI promising different companies way more money than what they have and nvidia deriving the vast majority of its market cap from the AI boom.
Two questions remain: Who will survive this? What should you do?
Any company that wasn't solely reliant on AI will go away relatively unscathed. Their caps will drop to what it was before and they can still offer their core products (GPUs, CPUs, OSes, Saas). Iff by the point of the bubble bursting other companies have legitimate AI alternatives openAI might get bailed out by the govt to stay competitive, otherwise it and other AI companies will go.
You should not put any money near AI, consider it lost. Keep using it if you desperately need it (you don't) and look into other AI firms that aren't just making word guessing algos. I'd invest in other stuff that isn't reliant on AI or just keep my money in the bank. Ideally it should be invested in human capital or stuff you can use it better your life that doesn't rely on the markets just going up.
