Why didn’t Japan take over the tech world like the 80s predicted?

The US literally crippled them.

Also they destroyed their economy and caused the """bubble""" to burst after forcing them to destroy their own yen

America keep crippling them now that anime and their culture completely took over american culture.

it turns out that land in tokyo having value on paper equivalent to all other land on earth combined doesn't actually translate into real wealth since no one can afford it and in fact that fake wealth creates an economy destroying bubble felt for generations

Because of their labor laws

It's ironic that Henry Kissinger, of all people, is saying shit like that. It was a self-fulfilling prophecy when he actively went out of his way to make the world a worse place.

>>

yes china would know a thing or two about not cutting your dick off to appease the US
>>
>>106842697
That would just make it more trustworthy, because the US declares China its enemy and wants to crush it because.... China is doing economically well...
There is no other reason to it than that.

>>106842253
They did though. All the best tech we ever got was all made in japan, and a lot of it was in the 80s.

The Japanese central bank created a huge bubble in the market to try and force changes in policy.
They were getting jealous of all the fun western bankers were having with regan-thatcher style deregulation.
Now companies that would normally be innovative degrade into petty investment vehicles. See: Softbank pivoting from being a telecommunications company to being a VC investment company.

I work in Japan during the winter months for close outs of projects, their business structures are just not build to ingenuity or anything that isn't just copying america's homework. The only difference is that they have a QA standard unlike China. I kid you not there are some of the biggest names in tech still using FAX to get shit done, progress through things in big tech are slow as shit, and without Silicon Valley telling them what to do they'd still be making 486 clones.

In the late 80s, Japan had a very advanced OS called TRON that put anything else to shame, and their whole industry was going to adopt it. So the American government threatened theirs with a Super-301 (total block of imports), rumored under request from Microsoft.

Japan lost the war and has destined themselves to forever be americas dog. the moment they start to excel the americans will crush them.

at the same time, Korea is doing significantly better with hynix, samsung etc.

So Japan could do much better before daddy usa starts to tighten the leash.

as to why they are getting bettered by korea, its cause I think japanese have just given up. life is good enough there. koreans also started giving up and are increasingly apathetic which is why samsung is getting rekt, their days are numbered and they are going down the same path as nokia.
>>
>>106842253
I don't know much. I guess complacency, lack of innovation and viewing technology (especially in the software sector) as a means for cost reduction through automation, etc. Strict regulations and of course US buttfuckery, are among the reasons why why Japan has fallen behind.

I heard they did shit like invent transactions out of thin air then way over value the company for the amount of income it had (some of it fake) and then borrowed tons of money against the fake inflated value of their companies. This made it extremely easy for foreign investors to pop their bubble.

You can actually see that repeating itself today with the USA starting to lie about its economic growth numbers and generating over inflated fake wealth.
I’m not going to say who but I’ve seen a company do shit like falsifying hundreds of millions in supposed transactions to keep their companies expanding as fast as possible even while the company is operating at a loss to expand. So basically the same thing they did in the Japanese market before it burst.
Americans don’t realize how vulnerable an economic bubble actually leaves them

> I kid you not there are some of the biggest names in tech still using FAX to get shit done
Can confirm. It was still like this in 2007 when I worked there, as eye opening as that retroshit was. People I talk to still see FAX used across massive swathes of the Japanese corporate sector.

You'd shit your pants seeing how much is still done by paper form with pen, which in itself keeps the use of FAX as the backbone of their infrastructure. It's like pulling teeth with pliers to do anything.

Japan, Germany, and South Korea are vassal states of the US.
>>
>>106848019

He was just capitalizing on a trend reversal. The 90's were when China was rapidly sucking in everyone's manufacturing, America included. Japan was hardest hit as they were the original "cheaper alternative" for most things.

One reason why investors didn't buy the bait so hard on China is because they learned from the story of Japan. Everyone was greedy and expected their pace of growth to go on forever and pass the US even.
>>
>>106847413
That doesn't make any sense. Korea is as much of USA's bitch as Japan.

The property bubble burst in the 90s. And today, the once energetic up and coming people of the 80s have fossilised into don't rock the boat types, leading to a decline in the once unrivalled Japanese quality.

No, china is too much of a scam country.
The only reason their country hasnt already crumbled under the scandals is because it would dump the entire world into a depression.
No other country could survive having their sole real estate company go bankrupt because it spent too much building fake cities, and also have 1/3rd of their gold reserves, at minimum, found to be completely fabricated.

>>106842253
When the US broke up the zaibatsu it opened up the arena for small companies, and yo got a new geenration such as Sony, Toshiba etc. They were innovative and did well until they too hit stagnation.

>>106845486
Japan realised the importance of QA and learned from the best like Deming and Juran.
