>Nothing will change for me except in the long term apps will stop being released with compatibility for Win10.
use case for apps that require windows ≥11 ?
drivers are a bigger issue. rtx ≥6000 and rx ≥10000 might not have windows 10 drivers. the first gen might allow modified .inf's but there are no guarantees. nobody ever hacked a proper driver for gtx 1000 series on windows xp for example.
>>
holy fuck why do people still use windows 10? this shit has been ass since day 1. nothing but dwm and wddm bugs like windows 8.
>>
>>106856353
>use case for apps that require windows ≥11 ?
I don't have any. I see myself using Win10 for 5 more years. I expect Win11 to be thoroughly modded by that time or for Linux to become usable (I know, I know...)
>>106856372
I had to "upgrade" because my NVMe couldn't handle Win7 without crapping itself all over the place.

windows 11 ltsc 24h2 was already released and it doesn't have explorer ads.
if microsoft adds ads through an update,
then you can just reinstall with a clean ltsc 24h2 .iso and turn off automatic updates.
maybe windows 12 will have forced ads, but for windows 11, it's too late.
>>
>>106856372
>holy fuck why do people still use windows 10? this shit has been ass since day 1.
windows 7 was a better OS except it never got proper UEFI support, USB 4 support, RTX 5000 series or RX 7000 series drivers, or proper DirectX 12. If someone managed to backport a few of those things then I would keep using Windows 7 today.
>>

steam good goyim are already updooted to windows 11.
piratechads don't care what operating systems the steam client does or does not support.
same thing with chrome and firefox. anyone using windows 10 in 2025+ can figure out how to download a browser fork.
>>
>>106856530
steam supported 7 until like last year, so going by that you can expect support for 10 until 11 is eol
>>
>>106856555
That's nice for normalniggers, but I will never have a steam account,
and i will never install the steam client installed on my PC, so it doesn't affect me.
Let me know when Codex, Rune, CPY et al. drop Windows 10 support.
>>
>>106856391
so when gpu drivers stop receiving support? because every browser is hw accelerated in 2025. which means they rely on vulkan/d3d11 drivers for angle.
>>
/g/ I know someone here can leak windows 7 source code if they wanted to

So I'll wait for that instead of installing windows 11
>>
>>106856641
>so when gpu drivers stop receiving support?
no, microsoft bribes other companies to artificially block old windows from working. that is why chrome stopped working on windows 7, but chromium forks were easily able to restore windows 7 compatibility. microsoft also made a lot of motherboard manufacturers delist already-published windows 8 and 8.1 drivers from their websites.

tldr google and mozilla will artificially block windows 10 before there is any technical reason to do so.

Seconded. Ran AME (from the prepackaged fucking ISO!!!) for 4 years, then did a fresh install and switched over to atlasos.

Ran Arch alongside it the entire time for everything non-gayming related. Never had a fucking problem. Winiggers are so fucking retarded....

Microsoft's support is the only thing that makes Windows interesting. If you don't care about that you might as well run Linux, wine has better win32 compatibility these days anyways.
>>
>>106856425
If you're going to put *any* effort into this you might as well install an OS like Artix where they maintainers don't actively abuse you.
>>
>>106857061
Windows is not interesting in any way, but most software was and still is designed for it which is why people use it. That's not gonna change when microsoft stops updating it
>>
>>106857070
That's right, with artix they give you a whip and let you abuse yourself
>>
Linux here I come.
I'll jump OS when I upgrade to the next CPU AMD cranks out.
Honestly I don't really even give a shit about the support ending, because things will work just fine for a long ass time to come.
But it's a good excuse to finally shift away from this utterly pozzed piece of garbage that has for the most part gone downhill since XP. That was the last OS that allowed the most control.
And I think by now it's been long enough for Linux to reach a state where most things work either out of the box or with little tinkering.
