I've never bought anything through iTunes or any audio file with built-in DRM. The *only* annoying thing about the classic iPods is that they doesn't support drag & drop file management. They have a content database that needs to be updated everytime you make changes to the files, but that can be easily done through things like the foobar2000 plugin or gtkpod. Neither buying music on iTunes, or using iTunes to manage the files, is necessary.

But it took too long for them to enter the market, iPod was already dominating.My first smartphone was an iPhone 4 and I bought a Sandisk Clip Sport just to have drag and drop, folder navigation, a clip with a fucking screen, I hated having to "sync" with iTunes.
