minimalism for me is low system requirements and low software surface area, if's too large and monolithic, you lose control of your system and you end up with inexplicable bugs when your GUI programs end up having bugs relating to dbus or systemd, how do you even begin to debug that shit, I don't want that shit running on my system.

Tinkering/ricing is a hobby for some people, which is perfectly fine, but they need to stop pretending it's anything other than that or serving any practical purpose. However, it's not just cognitive load. I am using stock ubuntu, which is basically retard proof, but I am far fromcalling this a minimal setup; there is so much junk in terms of software and functionality that I removed, disabled or simply never use.
